Arne Slot - Head Coach (Part 2)

Hold on, do you think he needed to mention the staff when making a presentation to two long serving legendary players? Really?
Its the manager at a retirement do saying “well, enough about you, lets talk about me”…
In light of Mo Salah’s words last week, and Slots press conferences this week, this looks like a barb. To two great players, who frankly deserve better.
Its not a feeding frenzy, at the moment, but there is the right of us a supporters to expect our clubs manager to show some respect in these issues. We are allowed to critique the situation without being accused of engaging in a pile on.
And all of that recognising its not his first language and may have been awkwardlly phrased.
His job yesterday.
Present to Mo and Andy.
Honour them.
Keep it at that.
Frankly, he didn’t do that.

It reminds me of an online IT forum called “Experts Exchange”.

Apparently, the original website, www.expertsexchange.com, caused confusion amongst the transgender community.

Obvious to? Boggles the mind that calling a spade a spade is a stretch to some. There is plenty to criticize, his tone deaf media and camera interactions included.

“Pen Island Pens”

Sounds like filth

Must admit, I was surprised to find only pens there

There’s another famous one, stemming from the time Susan Boyle (remember her?) released her debut album, and the record company wanted to make a fuss of the launch event on social media.

The hashtag?

I agree that a lot of the abuse has been over the top. But I did wince a bit when he mentioned the staff. Not that there was anything inherently wrong with what he said, it just feels like a lack of self-awareness or something.

Maybe we’re just spoiled by Klopp who always seemed to choose the perfect words for every situation.

The perfect example of how far gone the discussion is, on this forum and pretty much every Liverpool forum, when it even remotely relates to Slot, can be seen over in the Salah thread. This was his quote at training, ad verbatim:

“And winning games is the best thing that can happen to you. I think it’s the best club in the world when you win something, and the worst club in the world when you lose. So you better win next year!”

If Slot had actually said that, we would genuinely be on Slot thread number 6 in 24 hours, and we’d get a million explanations about how he was “attacking the fans”, “attacking the culture”, “attacking the scouser way” or some other shit.

I don’t think there’s even been a reply to Livvy’s post of that. Why? Because we all understand what he is saying* - that there is immense pressure to turn things around when results are bad because of how gigantic the club is - even if Salah could have used slightly better language to deliver it.

*This is where I am going to have a ‘taken aback’ Samuel L Jackson moment and I am going to be told Salah was actually taking a shot across the bow at Slot.

An imaginary reaction to something Slot hasn’t said is the best example of how unreasonable the criticism of him has become?

There is the Midas touch. And there is the Slot’s touch, everything he touches turns into shit…

Exactly. Which is what I believe he was referencing…

Somehow managed to get to the end of a rotten season and will also get given the reigns for another. We should honestly be playing Europa or Conference next season but not for other teams messing up. Again, another reason he has somehow been let off the hook in the eyes of the suits.

Fully expect us to clusterfuck our way past the first 5 games in 26/27 and he gets sacked.

Another limp, weak meh performance.

I see players choosing not to extend contracts under this manager.

Fingers crossed for a surprise Slot exit announcement tomorrow :folded_hands:

I hope FSG remove the decision from Hughes and Edwards hands and get rid of all three.

Getting rid of pretty much an entire squad across two seasons (which it looks like we will do with this summer) is a ballsy move. Especially when that squad won the league. Especially to back a coach who is delivering tepid shit after shunting a large portion of that squad already.

Im not optimistic for next season
