We are starting a little early aren’t we? Our next manager is probably going to be still playing the game, so they have about 7-10 years to get their coaches badge and maybe coach a few teams for 4 or so years.
What is known is that they’ll need to be the cream of the crop to follow on from Sir Arne’s 5 PL titles (not including last year’s).
Either Klopp, Nagelsmann, Guardiola, Zidane, Conte or Enrique. Liverpool is not a place for low-tier coaches. When it comes to coaches, do not select them based on so-called “potential”.
Just get one of the big names out there, that’s it.
Please remember: Both Benitez and Klopp already achieved big successes elsewhere before joining us.
If its true that this guy is a set piece expert then its hard to see what difference this will make given that we are actually pretty good at set-pieces.
I can see that having a well balanced coaching staff is important, but you have to ask what Slot himself offers if this guy is so essential. We have a very talented squad of players, but this season they have appeared lethargic and incoherent. All Slot appears to have done is piss them off.
Of course, it’s always possible that the club see Reijnen as a replacement for Briggs and that they still want a new head coach.
How much staff do they actually tend to bring? A couple of right hand coaches is what I assumed, but maybe that extends further? Not out of the question that a set piece coach could be outside that “own staff”.
Come on, someone give me some damn straws to clutch at!
Simone Inzaghi would be my choice, already looks like he’s wanting to return to Europe after a year in Saudi. Wouldn’t be upset with Iraola or Farioli either.
