AFCON CUP; Morocco: Sunday 21st Dec 2025 to 18th Jan Sunday 2026

Really, very strange.

Yeah it is as the other day the atmosphere was great and it looks a really good stadium too…

Such a low quality game so far.

edit - it is just awful

I see Koulibaly is just as wild as before. Stupid and lazy stamp on the Benin attacker’s Achilles and VAR convinced the ref to rightly give a red card. No attempt to play the ball whatsoever.

Our old boy Sadio still has some magic in those boots, just not nearly as sprightly as he used to be in his pomp.

Algeria’s B team were 3:0 after 30 min in the first half then missed quite a few opportunities then started messing around in the second half ended 3:1. Some cracking young French players. Next RP Congo next week.

It is lovely to see some Sunderland and Newcastle supporters at AFCONšŸ˜€

I have to mention. The AFCON tournament has delivered the most standout kits I have ever seen. They are beautiful and unique.

Had switched to the Barca game…

It wasn’t just the level of football but also the shithousery.

Add the terrible and amateurish refereeing, all you have to do is suddenly faint in front of them and you get a free kick. I could only stand 30 min of that match. It was even worse today as even though Morocco played well they only scored one goal and Tanzania should have had a penalty but with Infantino present they could not have the host eliminated could they.

Egypt against Benin, I hope Salah will be available again for the match against Arsenal.

He’s not flying back and being ready for that even if they get knocked out.

It’s Monday, he can be back in training on Wednesday.

He would likely fly back in on Wednesday, They usually have a day of rest and recuperation post the tournament.

I wouldn’t risk an injury frankly

I think he would be free to go anywhere he wants, if Egypt go out and don’t win it (in which case there would be a celebration or something). There would be no need for them to stay together, the players can have a day off or two of recuperation by themselves. Wherever. And then in agreement with us, when exactly back in training. Not forcing anything, but you don’t want to fall out of rhythm either.

I hope he wins it, he was the problem after all, wasn’t he

Pretty good game so far. Going into ET and hopefully there’ll be a result in open play rather than penalties.

If it goes to penalties Benin go through because the North African teams are poor at penalties a bit like England. Egypt is 2:1 up in the second half of extra time but Salah and Marmoush have been very poor so fa to be honest.
