Newcastle will be treated by us the same way that Man City are.

Close to 0% chance they get any Europe from table finish. They need some time, not just 5 months, Only real hope is winning a cup.

I think the league have got about about three years to get that that FFP drawbridge up.

Bruce got more money to spend than Rafa though. So he spent more and kept them in the same position that Rafa did.

What do you guys think about their current squad?

Would say that Saint-Maximin and Willock are the ones that stand out but other than that Iā€™m not sure if anyone else is good and young enough to stay long enough to win something with them. Agree?

The keeper is decent and can do a job there for 2-3 years before they hit the champions league

lascelles is a decent CB.

Money :moneybag: donā€™t guarantee anything look at what Ole has spent at utd and still trophyless.:laughing::laughing:

Newcastle, a city which is a hotbed of socialism. Isnā€™t it strange how peopleā€™s principles, go out of the window when vast amounts of money is involved? Mind you, I suspect the vast majority of Newcastle fans donā€™t know anything about Saudi Arabia and human rights abuses. I hope Spurs beat them tomorrow.

I noted Bruce went into the managers hall of fame for 1000 matches or clubs Iā€™m not sure which it was.

Itā€™s like those ā€œGood tryā€ stickers you got at school.

I wonder who is likely to go to Newcastle in Janā€¦
Toney to the toon?
Ward-Prowse?
Rafhinha?
Phillips?
Arrons?
Dunk?

ā€¦ arounda 100-125M for that lot?

Itā€™s a tough one, because whoever is first opens themselves up for the potential for abuse on social media for being the first to ā€˜sell their soulā€™.

Itā€™s a big risk as well because there are no guarantees about what happens afterwards or how long it all takes for the team to evolve to one which can win trophies.

By that point, someone like Dunk who is already 29 might well be considering retirement.

Do you walk away from what had been a good start at Brighton to join the circus? Or do you just get as much money as possible in the few years that you may have left?

If Brighton are offered 75M and Dunk is going to be on 150k a week - I think think heā€™ll slap in a transfer request and Brighton will still help him pack to boot.

Well when you put it like that you may have a point!

And this is exactly it: for the time being theyā€™re only going to be attractive to players who 1.) no longer have a chance to make it to the very top of the game but who could earn a lot more at Newcastle than their present clubs, and 2.) players who are looking for a well-paid stepping stone club on their way to a higher level. No one with any serious ambitions of winning things in the next few years will be interested for quite a while.

Is the knock-on effect of Newcastleā€™s new found cash cow hasten the exit of investors from the lean and mean market, i.e. FSG, Krƶhnkite, Leicester and so on?

probably keeps em interested.

more money in the game etc etc etc

I donā€™t know about the others, but in the case of FSG I donā€™t think they can sell up in the way Ashley has to Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool is valued at somewhere around 2bn quid and that doesnā€™t make sense even to a sovereign wealth fund. If say, China, are looking to get involved it would surely be better to spend 200m on West Ham, and then 800m on a rebuild of the club.
