Arne Slot - Former Head Coach (Part 2)

Another trophy won by Glasner at Palace by the way.

Ah, yes, the famously resolute and steadfast Jordan Henderson…

Im beginning to wonder, whether Slots interactions with the fans seem closed down, because he is offended at the fanbase response.

what does he expect? to be greeted with open arms after this past season?!

I think he believes he is much better than we do.

Well the players have pretty much come out with statements that they believe they are better than evidently we have seen.

In a sense though he has treated it like a normal job.

Any player/coach or manager that comes here can’t treat it like a normal managers job. Listen to ex players or managers like Kenny, Houllier, Rafa. They talk about the city they talk about the people.

Listen to Crouch, he played for a dozen clubs over 20 years. Only spent 3 with us. But he knows how special it was. He talks about that feeling. Not just the 60,000 fans in the stadium. He describes being part of the community, the banter, the feeling of being part of the city and also feeling protected (when outside world was criticising him). An understanding of just how important football is to the people.

It’s one of a reasons I have the utmost respect for Rafa. If he had just treated it as a job, he could have just left (that’s what most top managers would have done), he could have been a yes man and not rocked the boat (like Hodgson). But he chose to fight. I believe he was acting in best interests of the club than himself.

When your family and home are in another country it’s really hard to build that. There is a disconnect. Despite winning the league, despite the tragedy that typically fosters such bonds. There is a feeling he is not one of us, a natural affinity.

If this season had turned out differently and he had won the league. Barcelona came knocking. I can’t honestly say he would reject it.

I get the impression with Slot that there is a real ruthless side to him
(which isn’t always a good thing, nor for the right reasons)

look at the players that have left or want to leave,

TAA, Robbo, Salah, Allisson, Diaz, Konate, 6 players who were mainstays of Klopps team, winners and mentality monsters

then there is Jones, Quasah, Endo, Elliott, Nunez, good solid squad players who Slot isolated and either left or are about to leave

i’m worried that these players are been forced to leave or want to leave because they dont share Slots vision of how the team should play, nor the training or fitness programmes

and Slot is off the opinion, if they dont agree with my methods, fuck them they can leave,

for me a good strong manager would adapt to the players find comprises, get the teams old methods and Slots new methods to blend together,

i think Slot is failing in because either the players are used to better or Slot isnt strong enough to manage the problems thats arise from this methods

Remember when the main reason they went for Slot - we’re told - is because of how similar he and his football were to Jurgen, it would be good for continuity.

What happened to that?

Souness was ruthless as a manager too. Managed to ruin the squad for years to come.

Inglethorpe has a beautiful take that there is so much ongoing interest in every part of the club from the people who came before you that he quickly realized it wasn’t really a job, but a responsibility to honor what people before you did and hand it off to the next guy in a good state.

If that is right,he’d better get used to it,if he stays!

It is all so quiet now on the coaching situation at Anfield…The calm before the storm?
