Arne Slot - Former Head Coach (Part 2)

agreed.

however, (ive never been close to being proffessional so its only projecting) when you know something, you know something.

Macca will know hes not running games out properly. im not talking do the beep test at 4pm on a friday by yourself.

pilates, swimming, yoga, free weights, light jogging… low impact stuff…

its clear to anyone and everyone they arent conditioned, so they must know it within themselves. must.

back in the day Salah would post clips of himself in the home gym set up, im sure it was regulated by the club, but he still did it (preseason is a different beast, but) Milner would always comeback ready for day one, peak…

i get they would follow a plan, but when your offeriing up lip service about doing whatever it takes etc, maybe it takes getting yourself in peak condition.

it doesnt have to be behind the managers back, far from it…

‘gaffa, im not running games out,if its ok, im going to the fitness department for extra program’,

as for the happy holiday snaps, thats slightly different, but its hardly a great look, maybe instead of lunch in Rome, lunch at the club with the media manager…(i jest)

The excercises you mentioned are reasonable for recovery at a low level, but aren’t really good for developing the fitness and speed type training he needs to play playing football as Limie says, they have supposed professionals prescribing them with fitness routines to maintain and improve fitness.

However, as we have seen what they are prescribing isn’t working

I think the most simple question to ask is do you have any belief that Slot will be able to turn everything around?

I wanted to reply to so many posts in part 1, but I’m gonna reply to you mate again, but in part 2 haha.

Slot has been in charge of LFC for nearly part 2 seasons. The first year, the champions league looked like this >

Our knockout fixture draw then gave us the best team in Europe, we lost to them on a penalty shootout, really fine margins.

But that’s just the luck of the draw, (or unlucky in our case, marginally!)

The second year we got to the quarter finals, we knew the draw in advance that we would face the best team in Europe again.

We beat Galatasary 4-0 in what I think was actually our best team performance of the year. After that game Mo Salah announces to the football world that he is retiring, like WTF, were you not a little bit happy that the team won and you also scored a goal?

We get spanked by the best team in Europe over both legs, fixtures that Salah was dropped from starting in. He comes onto the pitch because tragically our glimmer of shining light this season gets the worst injury.

Slot won’t get to at least CL semi-final with Liverpool as you correctly state, and people say it’s just making excuses? But I can see that lack of luck, plus the unnecessary bullshit that was added on top of it!

I just don’t know what faith anyone should have that Slot can turn it around. We have no evidence of that so far.

He should resign with his head held high at the end of the season. Title win. UCL qualification. Walk away and take the Ajax job.

Google translate in short
Ajax inquired about Slot, but the attempt was unsuccessful as Slot is firmly established in Liverpool etc.

Only 9973 to go to the next milestone in the saga.
Hope is right, surely he is finished!

This might be the clearest indication that they are indeed planning to retain Slot against all reason.

Title win???

I’ve been leaning towards the expectation that he will be staying as that is the messaging coming through journalists with some connection to the club. But i read yeaterday a quote from Paul Joyce on the coaching changes happening - if Arne stays. Which seems a significant change in message.

They won the Premier League title last year, did they not? Did I hallucinate that? :joy:

I think Salah enjoys talking up his own mythology.

I mean, he did caveat that by saying “this is what I remember, if I’m wrong, please accept my apologies.” In any event, while it was definitely self-aggrandizing, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t true. If there’s one thing that no one can doubt, it’s that Mo took his physical fitness extremely seriously, and I could see how that would rub off on his teammates.

Hey, Arne… wanna be like PSG?

I think we need to get out defenders to love defending and attackers to love attacking first before we get ahead of ourselves.

Defenders these days cannot defend at a top level if the attack and midfield doesn’t defend at an important level, too. They have to do it together.

This is what I figured, except nobody likes doing that except Milner, everybody wants to do ball work. It has to be forced onto players, Klopp certainly did that. They also need to be doing this in training as doing it in isolation will only take you so far.

Getting Dembélé to defend deserves manager of the year by itself. He has been brilliant under Enrique.
