Arne Slot - Head Coach (Part 1)

Give me Mane over Gapko any day,

for a start Gapko lacks the desire and hunger of Mane

these are attributes that you’re born with and a footballer cant learn get attributes through training,

either you’ve got it or you dont

Came across an interesting video on our failings recently. We are still very high in pressing aggressiveness but are the poorest in the league on tackles etc. We’re aggressive but crap at it. Plus our recovery is shit.

I’ll see uf I can find it again.

Look at post 3820. Is it that one?

I really do hope he goes with Ramsey. Like we are losing by 3 goals to these teams anyhow, might as well try a player in his position and allow the alternative to play further forward.

He did ok against Palace who were mostly first team that day.

Szob could play in Mo’s position and cover the whole RHS :face_blowing_a_kiss:

Slot won’t play him. He said we only have 5 defenders atm - he didn’t even include Ramsay in that.

Arne Slot on whether he needed to shake up his starting side:

“Is the question should I change dramatically? If for example you want another system with five defenders that could be an issue. I don’t even have five defenders.

"It suits the players best the system we are playing now, they have played this system probably throughout their whole career and there is hardly any training time for us.

“So it is almost impossible to change our complete idea about football if we play every two days.”

Yes he has, Ramsey, Gomez, Konaté, van Dijk, Robertson, Kerkez.

Gomez and Ramsey:
Oh, right… I thought…
Never mind. I’ll just get my coat, shall I?”

This simply confirms what we’ve already discussed; for Slot, some players aren’t part of this group and aren’t included in his plans.

Well he is no longer in my plans :joy:

In the circumstance that we are… that’s a big problem. The summer window left us with Chiesa and Rio as backups which Slot will seldom use.

Endo - not my first choice CB but just rotating him in could give Konate a kick up his arse.

The reality is that after all that spending, this team is extremely unbalanced. We have some very good players but not everywhere. And to me, Slot’s biggest shortcoming is not using his squad (something against certain players). Yes there was bad luck, but some pragmitism is needed.

We’d only need 2 or 3 more to show something approximating the same form as last year and the squad would look a lot less imbalanced

Are we all ‘Slot In’ now!

Not really but if he can keep winning through this December period then he deserves the ability to see what he can do.

If we turn out another dud on Wednesday this just meant some points more towards safety.

Too a early to judge

He learns far too slowly however if he stops fucking up he might hang on.

Agree. We were still losing second balls and West Ham were toothless, much like Frankfurt. After some good play in the first half we were under too much pressure in the second half, defensive organisation was shaky. At one point two consecutive tackles were made and that one player with the ball still got through until VVD put it out. No real outlet to move the ball quickly when attacking.

At least there was no inverted fullback with wingers stuck outside (goals were from Gakpo moving into the goal area after great work from Wirtz, and a Gomez cross), so things can change.

Bigger test in midweek. Sunderland will come to Anfield wanting the win.

It’s still a massive week for him. The first step to getting back to normality is ticked off.

Nope, because he’s going to bring Mo back in for Sunderland and we’ll lose

If we lose at home to Sunderland he deserves to be sacked.
