I saw this, and I have to say I wasn’t sure what you meant.
You mean he exaggerated for effect? Something lost in translation? Or Mo is game playing, and shouldn’t believe him.
I would have more understanding if these comments had been given when someone shoved a microphone under his nose after a game when his blood is up - like happens to Slot twice a week. But it was a calculated, premeditated attack. We’ve in the past Mo speaks when it benefits Mo.
I can applying with my Level one coaching badge. I’m not sure what I can bring tactically, but if Virgil or Gakpo need their laces tying I can do that.
I can see Jurgen taking the reigns in January. Mission get top 4. Then evaluate in summer i Jurgen has the desire for it again, or we do look long term.
While some of this may be Mo throwing a bit of a tantrum, you’d have to wonder if a similar feeling is had amongst the other players regarding their relationship with Slot.
We shouldn’t be performing this bad, but we are and players tend to turn(privately) rather than look at themselves even though publicly they may say otherwise.
Right now I don’t think it’s looking good for Slot. I think he’ll have to turn this around quickly or he lose more of them and then he’s gone.
He has been on the bench for the last three games. Many would say justifiably. My opinion is Slot gave him chance after chance, hoping we would get something like his previous level.
I wouldn’t equate that to being pushed out of the club. It’s on Mo to say I will train as hard as I can every day, and when the manager calls on me to play, I will do my utmost for the team.
I don’t like the drama he is making with his comments, and that more than anything else will bring his time here to a conclusion sooner rather than later.
It’s hard to know what has been said or not said privately between Slot and Salah. Publicly Slot has been very gracious towards Salah.
What we do know is Salah has been benched by Slot. Many would say justifiably. And then unfortunately, and unprofessionally, Salah has gone public with his comments today and blown the whole thing up.
It would have been justifiable at any time since the start of the season.
To me it stinks of Slot thinking his arse is on the line so he puts Salah on the bench for 3 games hoping everyone will say “ah, there’s the problem right there”.
I agree. It was a long time overdue. Arguably that was because of his previous excellent record, so Slot persisted with playing Mo in the hope he might show it. Eventually, with the run of results so bad - and there are many more factors to that than just Mo Salah’s performance level - Slot clearly decided it was time to bench Salah, play Dom in the half space on the right, and try to get a bit more stability.
While there are various legitimate perspectives on the whole thing, overall I’m disappointed in Mo for going public in the way he did. It just seems so unprofessional. It makes me think a January departure is more likely than not.
Slot may well go too, but to my mind he deserves a bit more time to see if he can improve the culture and the results, especially as a clearly better, and available candidate is not apparent.
