Slot is under a lot of pressure. I’m less worried about what he says, and more worried about how the team is doing.
If he starts to say outrageous stuff, fair enough, that’s a concern. But all I see are the comments of a guy who is under a lot of pressure. He’s trying to defend his corner, albeit not in the best way. If we were up there defending our Premier League title this stuff would barely register. And that’s the issue, because we are well short.
He probably won’t make it beyond the summer, but let’s see, you never know.
Perhaps I’m missing something, or maybe I’m missing your point
Slot described arriving and only being able to sign one player after a Europa League season. He then talks about needing to transition the team and that transitions are easier when you have money.
Are you saying the logical conclusion of those comments is more of an unspoken hypothetical? That if he had wanted to sign more players or transition the team back then, it would have been a problem? But luckily for Slot it didn’t actually impact him at the time?
Because to me Slot seemed pretty literal in his descriptions.
This isn’t even that concerning. In fact it’s the argument some make when we don’t make CL.
Effectively it’s easier to buy players when you achieve success. If he was bleating how the team needed loads more tools but Uncle Henry won’t buy him any then perhaps. He’s got several steps to take to get even close to Rodgers in this situation
We are committed to the press. What you are observing and drawing a mistaken inference from is the CONTINUATION of the transitioning of our pressing system, from the geggenpress…
The best analogy I can think of is from the NFL- the difference between an agressive pass rush leading to the sack of a QB, and a “coverage sack”…
IMO there’s a mismatch in player profiles for the transition, made worse by injuries and continuing questions about our conditioning from a fractured preseason.
My criticism of Slot in this regard is that its taken too long, even while recognizing the contributory factors of my earlier points- different player profiles and injuries…
Why not use a system that gets the best out of the profile of players available?
If you’ve got the ingredients for a lasagne why are you trying to make a cottage pie? Buy the ingredients for a fucking cottage pie and then make a cottage pie.
The squad regardless of how it is set up is far better than what it’s done.
Thats a simple fact sorry, when it’s pressed they’ve looked far better. At 2-0 they kept the ball well it was an excellent performance one that could and should have been delivered on Monday but wasn’t.
If we are committed to the press, then why is there numerous occasions in many games a midfielder or forward is free.
Do you ever warch videos highlighting our issue, prior to what is happening lately it was down to a fullback overloading the numbers in midfield or a forward coming short, again to create a numerical advantage.
Lately it has been even simpler with the oppositions 6 not being engaged in midfield and having far too much space.
Also, have you heard of what Arne wants defensively?
He talks about a plus 1, in other words and extra defender, this is where it seems to me that there is a lack of commitment to the press or confusion from the players.
I have watched lots of videos from Redmentv on their deep dive, Panenka, Athletic and acfc. These are good watches from a tactical oversight and highlight our issues, plus I have watched every game this season.
You know I keep looking at the table, and it’s confirmed right that the first 5 places go into next years champions league. We’re obviously not gonna catch arses or cheatys, so that leaves 3 out of Liverpool, Chelsea, Villa and the scum. It’s more than do-able, unless we’re thinking we drop off so much now that Brentford have a better league season overall than us. I just can’t see it, grind out the remaining games and the other teams also under pressure will fuck up too
