We might go through in the CL but I think we’re at a point again where it could be the end for Slot if we fail to beat both Spurs and Brighton. Would be right before the international break.
Even if we beat Spurs, as we should, if Galatasaray knock us out of the CL then it could, and should, be the end for Slot.
Well then you’re blind because they’re ahead of us and 3rd on the table. Perhaps use your tired context argument and apply it rigorously to a point that doesn’t support your position. But then, you won’t because it would prove you wrong and we can’t have that now can we?
Just sack him.
You don’t just sack a manager, you replace them. I expect something will happen at the end of the season.
Other clubs do and they don’t always have a replacement ready and waiting.
If Alonso really does want the job, then why would he say no to taking the job now? If he’s of a mind to wait until the season is over then maybe he doesn’t want the job enough.
As was said earlier a new manager taking over now get’s the opportunity to work with and observe the players before the WC and gets extra time to get everyone in tune with his way of doing things before the new season starts.
Well they do. That’s the caretaker option. Sometimes it helps, sometimes doesn’t. I’d actually be curious to see what would happen if they did just let the players manage themselves Sunday League style.
It pains me to say it but I do suggest they’d probably look a whole lot better on the field.
When I wrote that, it did occur to me that they were probably in that state at the beginning of last season. Not a slight on Slot, but it was a settled squad that just inherently understood what each other was doing.
Had he lost his legs when he outran the Bournemouth defence on opening day. All this is you peddling opinion as a fact.
A few weeks ago, I would have dismissed this without a second thought, but I am almost certain now that if Slot stays on, we will miss out on the CL spots. And if we don’t, it will be down to luck, which Slot likes to bemoan.
He has to be removed from his position during the international break.
Making teams better than the sum of their parts is what good managers do.
Jurgen Klopp does it better than anyone else, but we don’t need him to make the most out of the talent and ability in the squad; any manager who knows what he’s doing should be able to.
I was naively looking forward to yesterday’s match. I had myself convinced that we would put on a performance, another vs Spurs on Sunday and be in a good place pre the international break.
But yesterday’s effort was for me, another compelling reason that Arne has to go.
Konate should have been hooked on 50 minutes. Even at half time. Gomez at CB and Frimpong on.
Ibou was fucking atrocious last night. Absolutely awful.
Our midfield was piss poor, yet Curtis Jones remained on the bench. We needed invention, so Cody comes on whilst Rio kicks his heels.
And now we can save our season with a set piece goal at Anfield?
We are going out of the CL in the QF, even if we beat this average Gala team next week.
We are going out of the FA Cup in the QF.
We will scrape fifth in the league.
We have quality players with no system, no coaching, no passion, no cohesion. That is on Arne and his staff.
I’d actually be curious to see what would happen if they did just let the players manage themselves Sunday League style.
Worked for Avram Grant at Chelsea ![]()
Is he still here
That was the worst football match I have seen us play since Wolves, which was the worst football match I’d seen us play in nearly a decade
Shocking we are paying Salah $1,000,000 every two weeks. That fucking does my head in. He should have been out the door after his media incident, nevermind the last contract he got was a retirement slush fund.
He’s taking up space on the pitch now. Legend or not, it’s poor form on his part and he can sit for the rest of the season as far as I am concerned, give him no play time leading up to the world cup. Their first match is in Seattle vs Belgium (3hrs from here) and I was tempted to go but not anymore.
We should not have to rely on some managerial unicorn to make us better than the sum of our parts. That was the whole point of the head coach structure that was put in place.
I get you are referring to Klopp here and agree there is no one else like him. But a head coach should at least make us equal to sum of our parts. I’ve defended Slot over the past months and highlighted the many extenuating factors. However, last night’s performance wasn’t an anomaly. We’ve had enough good games to show we’re capable of more. But when we regress to the mean, this is what we are now. A fragile team lacking structure and ideas. It’s not all on Slot but a change is maybe the best thing for everyone now
There are so many things I find alarming now. The coaching has left quality players looking like rabbits in headlights. There’s no composure, no leadership, nobody looking to take responsibility, no cohesion, no spark, it’s all a total shambles.
There’s rarely any tangible response from the players.
Konate looks all over the place but I think a large part of that is down to the presence next to him is no longer the commanding, composed colossus of before. He looks jittery because Virgil leaves us increasingly vulnerable, particularly at set pieces.
I mean, does Virgil now deliberately take up positions on corners that leave the opponents biggest threat(s) unmarked?
We are unrecognisable from the mentality of titans installed by Klopp.
I’m so pissed off.
Try specsavers, cos that is what you need if you can’t see it!
I think most of us have seen this for a while, though you can always hope, but personally don’t think there’s any need for vitriol against Arne. I like him, maybe he’s a bit stubborn (many managers are) and some of his interviews are a bit unfortunate, maybe his man managment isn’t the best, but it’s not like he’s a massive arsehole. It worked really well for a while and got us a title and then it didn’t anymore, for whatever reasons, it happens. Also hardly his fault that he’s still in the job, that’s for others to decide wouldn’t expect him to just leave on his own. Tactics aside, also can’t blame him for not being Klopp, good luck finding that whole package in any manager/coach again soon.

Specsavers sponsor Scottish Referees. It doesn’t seem to help much.
Yeah, and it worked so well at first.
