Two, three or four are fine.
Okay
, that rules him out then ![]()
No. Just no.
Out of respect, I would choose 4, or wait until the end of the season to announce his departure publicly.
I agree with a lot of this, except the first sentence. It is very much possible that they wont fire him but there is still a possibility that they will after the season.
However the way they have informed the media throughout the season of them backing Slot, it would be very weird that they would make a U-turn there. Iām not a PR expert but I would be actually quite concerned if that would have been their PR strategy to back him throughout and then sack him, as it is clear to us and to FSG as well that Slot is out of his depth currently and needs to be removed.
Which brings me to my next point, that if they donāt sack him even though it is clear that he needs to be removed, it does not look very positive for the near future in terms of the continuity of the club. Not sacking him, and not going in for Alonso or any other managerial candidate, would mean they will treat next season as a transition year and I would guess they donāt expect Slot to turn it around and his days are numbered similar to Rodgers. The only goal for the next season would be to make it to champions league.
In that situation I think the big question is what is the future of Hughes and Edwards. We never know what happens behind the curtains at the club but I think the biggest insight this year has been when FSG gave up on the plan extending their portfolio with another european club. I remember it was mentioned as one of the key reasons of Edwards accepting the job, as he believes its vital for success going forward that FSG have a wider portfolio in football which would support the success of Liverpool. Iām guessing his mind has not changed in the past two years, but who knows. If not, I think he could leave after his contract expires. Which I think is the plan for all three of them. In that scenario all of them (maybe Hughes or Slot leaves prior during next season) will leave at the end of next season, and we are in the market for the new manager then, not before, and as you said FSG are happy to sit out on Alonso in this current market.
Donāt worry, I wonāt be emailing his agent. ![]()

There is now serious consideration being given to changing the head coach at Liverpool. It would require an admission higher up that things are beyond repair, but the question is at least now posed, it would also mean a reshuffle above the head coach at the director level.

Well done Liverpool. We got there in the end. What a shame it was after missing out on Alonso.
If Alonso is not The One (sounded like a movie), I donāt mind Sebastian HoeneĆ.
Although Alonso played for LFC and understands the clubās culture, I wonder if that would actually be too much expectation on him from the supporters.
Well done @Woolton, we need a few laughs to cheer us up and get to the end of the season

Full statement for those who donāt use twitter.
I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that.
Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.
Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.
Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.
As Iāve always said, qualifying to next seasonās Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen.
Interesting that replacing Slot means we also replace Hughes (assuming that is the Director level change mentioned). Might mean Hughes is indeed off the Al Hilal as rumors have suggested?
Yeah me neither. People would say he doesnāt have enough big club experience or titles to point to, but he seems actually tactically astute, knows how to handle people and can make players better. His uncle is not his fault.
Mo Salah has now openly mutinied against Arne Slotā¦It is pretty clear he lost the trust in Arne Slot alreadyā¦
Probably very few who have won titles.
Iād want a manager thatās faced issues and got through it and before someone says oh look Hodgson, that kind of manager hasnāt even if they are brought into keep someone up the year after they are usually sacked before October.
Curtis Jones has also applauded Mo Salahās final words to Slot as wellā¦Second senior player to openly join the mutiny against Arne Slot now
Heās calling out Slot. Once his contract expires I think heāll say a lot more.
I think if you get sacked after 8 months, no matter the circumstances, that would be considered a failed stint.
Also donāt get me started on pre-season disruption and injuries. Sounds like excuses being made by a bald Dutch bloke we all know.
