Very sad to say but when three dozen are officially reported as dead and 700 injured within an hour or so of the earthquake happening, then you know that the final figure will be a lot higher. Currently the official number of dead is close to a thousand.
My heart goes out to the people of Venezuela..

The way they are talking about thousands unaccounted for reminded me the catastrophic chain reaction condos/apartments fire in Hong Kong about the missing number of people. Heart breaking for the families.

There has been a fatal shooting in Stade in North Niedersachsen. Reports of 5 dead. No idea what this is about (other than guns).

Shots fired at youth facility
According to the current state of the investigation, a homicide occurred at a youth care facility on DankersstraĂe. A police spokesperson confirmed in response to a dpa inquiry that the site houses residential groups for mothers and children. According to its website, the facility specializes in the care and support of young mothers and their children. The exact connection between the youth facility and the incident remains unclear at this time.

Iâve seen a few stories like this on the BBC and other news services. Iâm wondering if they are using this as an angle to increase support for a national ID card scheme, because people donât appear that bothered about identity theft.
