Getting ready for an ass whoppin’, you feel me dawg?
So we’re one injury away from playing kids (22 is now a kid apparently) and Dom isn’t experienced in the PL (The Toughest Competition in the World TM).
But Chelsea are “getting ready for the new season” by signing a defender with zero PL experience and will likely start a 20 year old at centre back against us because of the injuries they already have.
Oh and they also have fewer midfield options than we do and have spent all summer chasing a player who’s price tag was set at the start of the summer and they keep bidding less than that.
Someone make it make sense please…
I reckon we should ask Brighton if they will loan us Milner back.
Way I see it is one has played a fair bit and been with the club since probably about 10 and the other is captain of Hungary and played at a Euros along with a couple of campaigns in the CL. Yes the third name will be a youngster if Macallister was injured but the rumours are Lavia who would be an embryo if those two are classed as “kids”.
Glad we didnt sign Bellingham. Dutch would have lost his shit at our lack of preparation.
Lavia, if we will ever sign him, will be a kid too although he has a full year of PL football under his belt. For me it is not only quality -and yes that comes first- but experience too.
We all knew we needed fresh and younger legs but we are taking it a bit too literally…
Anyway back to Chelsea and I’m not sure I like the approach of signing a CB from Monaco to replace the CB you signed from Monaco 6 months ago because they didnt play well.
Juries still out on Badiashile, Fofana looks like he’ll be out most the season…Silva as good as he is still isn’t getting any younger.
If Chelsea see a back 3 of Disasi Badiashile and Colwill flanked by James and Chilwell as WB’s for their foreseeable future then it could well prove to be a good move.
I’m sorry I disagree if you think Dom is a fresh young kid.
Over 100 appearances across Bundesliga and Austria’s top flight, over 30 appearances in Europe and over 20 appearances at national level with an appearance at the Euros.
No problem.
There is no making sense of anything Chelsea do. They absolutely need to do something at CB given Fofana’s injury and the CB you reference has missed all of preseason with an injury he picked up at the end of last season. That leaves them only 3 CBs, one of whom is 38 and doesnt like playing in Poch’s preferred back 4. So you’d think this guy would be coming in to supplement their ranks? No, apparently they are trying to sell Callobah right now.
They are a mess
The CB situation makes me laugh because they’ve spent hundreds of millions at a position where they had three prefectly good PL quality prospects in Tomori, Guehi and - later - Colwill coming through. Fair enough they now look set to get Colwill some gametime but Fofana, Badiashile or Malang Sarr have not looked as good as either of the guys they let leave. As you say, there is no plan.
If they simply did nothing, sogned no one and had Colwill-Guehi-Tomori at CB next season they’d be significantly better than they are right now. What a club.
I read that as Denzel Washington.
Agreed.
McAllister is a real old experienced head, a massive 2 years older than Jones.
FFS!!! Chelsea really are playing real life Football Manager.
You’re not alone there, though I haven’t had my coffee yet, so I’m blaming that.
How can they not be in FFP violation?! Literally buying everyone under the sun!
At least this year they have been relatively cheap signings, on contracts over the max length so the fee is spread out as far as possible (in FFP accounting context) and likely on comparatively small wages compared to the players who have been moved on.
It feels like Boehly’s recently seen some YouTube clips of Vini Jnr. and declared, “Hey, let’s just do that!”, before signing a glut of shitty regens.
You need an -inho, Todd, or it doesn’t work. Every kid knows that.
£100 million bid for Maguireinho expected soon
