Problem with Chelsea is they make even the likes of PSG and City’s spending seem rational.
Since that ugly witch and her goons took over, I’m not sure there’s anyone that’s outspent Newcastle excluding Chelsea.

Reece James has had surgery on his hamstring. Sounds like hr will be out for 3-4 months.
The amount of injuries, constant interruptions and time out he’s had lately… shame, for the quality of the player he is.
Yeh, we’ve got one of those.
Just the one?
This is the bed they’ve made themselves. I would hope Evan would consider it’s not the best place.
I really like what I’ve seen of him.
Arsenal are desperate for a striker too.
Massive fee incoming.
For a 100m though?
I don’t get them at all.
They’re the youngest side in the league, all of their strikers are not older than 22 and the next move is… Evan Ferguson? Really?
Do they want to be a rich man’s Brighton or actually get closer to competing and winning things again?
Everything I’ve heard of him implies he’s too smart to make that move at this stage. He rejected a move to Liverpool in order to go to Brighton where he would play first team football sooner. I think he’s got a couple of years there left in him at least - given that he isn’t even starting all that often.
Who the fuck came up with that ridiculous figure ?
I think £100m might just be the new £70m.
It’s an abitrary figure for any potentially half decent player at a lower level club that they aren’t especially looking to sell.
But they know the likes of United and Chelsea will fork out that much because they are dumb. Or at least haggle down to £80m.
His game time is still being managed by Brighton.
I like him but him not starting regularly suggests that his body isn’t ready for continuous football. And Chelsea fans are probably the most toxic fanbase in English football.
I do hope he continues at Brighton and if he does need to graduate to a big ticket move, it can either be us any team continental.
It’s important to note that the money is not limitless at Chelsea. In the agreement with Abramovich, £1.75 billion was pledged for investment, which broadly meant to redevelop Stamford Bridge but also to invest in the squad, the training facilities, etc. All the money that’s being poured into the club comes from that agreement.
Part of the £4.25 billion came from Clearlake Capital, an investment fund. Clearlake is not only going to want their money back, but they’re also expecting a contractual return on that investment of somewhere between 50% and 100% of their original investment. And they will be contractually obliged to receive it. That’s why all of this investment has to pay off over the next few years.
I’ve written about what deep doodoo ManU are in. But ManU are financed by bonds that aren’t difficult to refinance. This is different. In some ways, Chelsea are in worse shape because there is an end date to Clearlake’s investment that will require they get paid off, which will require a big, big payment be made that might be much more difficult to refinance.
Couldn’t tell if this was for their women’s team or men’s team, maybe a player I’ve never heard of…
The thread you’re in is probably a giveaway.
To Chelsea, every player is now worth 100m.
Ferguson 10-15 years ago honestly wouldn’t have even been worth a punt at 20m.
But, but, they have been turning corners
