Guilty on all counts on a charge that is notoriously difficult to prove suggests guilty as shit. My comment was a sarcastic one aimed at the idea that the DoJ has been weaponized given it has now now taken down another Biden ally.

This author has been on a podcast tour in support of this book and it’s absolutely fascinating some of the things she has to say. I dont think much of it will surprise anyone who has been paying attention, but its her ability to clearly articulate how the dots are connected that I think marks her work out as being valuable

One of the things I have found her particularly insightful on is the fuzzy line between irony and sincerity of their racism and misogyny, and how sometimes the generational layers within the movement cause confusion. She speaks about a typical sort of progression is generation 1 mockingly uses hitler memes to wind people up. Generation 2 sees the hitler memes and feels the need to be well versed in fascist literature to become a better class of troll. Generation 3 then interpret this as being able to recite Mein Kampf is just a normal thing that people playing online shootem up games can do and reads it as the manifesto it was intended to be. Next thing you have 30 year old men horrified at the 18 years olds who genuinely think its cool to punch women in the face because that is something you are only supposed to joke about.

The MAGA crowd want religious freedom, but it has to be the right religion!
Trump is trying to expand the appeal as he knows they don’t have the numbers. It’s why they are suppressing votes and trying to steal elections. They don’t have the numbers. So there is a sensible attempt (as much as we can say anything in that orbit is sensible) to try to enlarge the tent.
The problem they have is that the ugliness is there for all to see, and a certain brand of white, Christian, nationalist Republican - rife in the MAGA orbit, embodies this.
Ultimately they are screwed as they don’t have the numbers, and that will only become more apparent in years to come, as the profile of the nation continues to change. In the meantime, in an effort to stave off reality, they will pack the Supreme Court and do all the stuff we are seeing Trump do.
