The Longshoreman are even more like an organized crime racket than the teamsters.
The irony of it all is we currently have the most pro-union administration in more or less living memory, and we have a powerful union here (like the teamsters) antagonistic to them, all while acting in a way that would make most people take the traditional GOP position that unions drag down the economy. With modern mechanization we could eliminate about 75% of longshoreman jobs while increasing efficiency of the ports and here we have a multi millionaire faux populist causing a work stoppage to fight for protection of his teamās well paid jobs. We should just pay them off in a big lump sum to retire and bring in the machines and weād be economically ahead in a couple of years.

I fucking love this dude.
His jibes at Musk ref Sissy SpaceX are fucking hilarious.
This is great
America, what has become of you?
Sadly, the problem of dumbing down is not unique to America.
Been going on for a while now. Remember doctors getting death threats during covid.
I donāt know when this shit became mainstream in the US, but an earlier instance of the sort I can vaguely remember is when Alex Jones was allowed on CNN to ādebateā 9-11 truther nonsense in the 2000s. Iām sure this goes back a lot further than this.
Iām not sure Andrew Neil, the former chairman of GBeebies, and the current chairman of the Spectator is that anchored to reality either.
I donāt know how much of an idiot he really is. I think he is a sociopath thatās just in it for the chance to sell overpriced supplements to suckers.
Heard people that get debates with him say how he is all friendly afterwards despite personal attacks during the discussion.
Iāve no idea what heās like now , but in his heyday there was no better interviewer , Paxman included.
Sounds like my Missus.
Kiss and makeup with Alex Jones or your missus @Beklopptās? Must be a hard one for youā¦
Wellā¦
Alex Jones does love ripping his clothes offā¦
Heās definitely an idiot but he is also a cynical conman. Recent Knowledge Fight episodes highlight this really well, you can tell thereās no actual belief system underpinning him.
He should have been shut down a long long time ago. I wonder how much damage his programs have caused over the years, be it financially, health, life even? Thats of course above the ones that have taken him through court already.
The weather misinformation is galling. Elected officials like MTG should be censured. I donāt know that there is mechanism, other than being voted out, that would shut her down.
For many years it has been heading this way, with the dumbing down of everything, even in the UK. If I look at a weather map I would have seen on the Beeb when I was a kid, it included isobars, and indicators for warm fronts, cold fronts, and more information than now. They talked in a more professional meteorological way, but as a member of the public I followed along and understood it easily. These days the weather reporting is about the standard of Caroline Aherneās scorchio skits
We can pick on America, and there is good reason to. Trump is the chief culprit of misinformation and division, and the weather misinformation is just an offshoot of what he has been doing for a long time. There is a very real sense in which he is the culmination of an intentional, generational effort to dumb down the masses though. Where it all leads is uncertain, but a Harris-Walz victory will be a welcome step in a better direction.
Itās been going on since the 70s, as both the people who actually read my posts will know.
This is merica we are talking about, surely a trigger would be a good mechanism
