Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

Trump has a very apelike brain where he reacts he doesnt plot. These reactions are likely to just be the result of having been present during a conversation about either of these issues and dont need there to be any nefarious plan in the background that he is initiating.

But Project 2025 is a reality, isnā€™t it? If their website is anything to go by, they must be whispering a lot of things in his ear. They are his paymasters, arenā€™t they?

One of the huge successes of the Danish economy has been Novo Nordisk, a pharmaceutical company. They make semaglutide, which is a weight loss drug that is becoming very common in America, under brands like Wegovy or Ozempic.

Denmark needs to tell America to piss off with the talk about Greenland, or we will stop the supply of semaglutide, you fat bastards :joy:

Iā€™d love Denmark to taunt him with that. That would teach him. :joy:

The dipshit refused to rule out the use of military force to secure Panama and Greenland. I think and hope that heā€™s full of shit, both figurately and literally, but you never know whatā€™s going on in his head. Itā€™s not as if thereā€™s anyone in his administration or elsewhere that will stop him and as absurd as itā€™d be for the US to launch a full-scale invasion in order to grab land for the first time since the 19th century, these arenā€™t normal times.

Plus, heā€™s got Putinā€™s example from the other side of the pond. After all, if Putin can, why shouldnā€™t he?

Apes worldwide are up in arms at this loathsome insult to their kind!

Pardon me @Magnus but at least Putin is doing it to a regional opponent.

Trump would be doing it to a staunch ally! And itā€™s not even contiguous land!

Greenland, Panama, Canada; all regional geographically for the US. And thatā€™s usually how territorial expansion works.

But yes, itā€™s insane and Americans who voted this daemon in, can go fuck themselves with a polearm. They are much more guilty than Germans who voted for NSDAP in 1933 when socioeconomic and sociopolitical background is taken into consideration.

But Denmark and Canda relies on US military strenght for defence, so itā€™s easy to attack them both politically, economically and militarily. Fascists go for weaker states after all. Thatā€™s the point with imperial expansion after all. To conquer, and then you attack someone weaker and take their land.

The ape analogy frightens me. Reminds me that since the time of apes, we have always looked toward silverbacks and strong me. Democracy remains an experiment.

Itā€™s like this forum looking toward @cynicaloldgit and @Flobs for guidance.

I read the article and the quote from the Greenland politician, about a constructive dialog and a mutually beneficial partnership with the United States, made me think this might gain traction.

Itā€™s appalling that it all starts off with a lunatic bully wading in forcefully, likely having heard an adviser talk about Greenlandā€™s mineral wealth.

But I wouldnā€™t rule out an arrangement being found that enriches the 57,000 Greenland citizens, while also giving them the covering of American ā€˜protectionā€™ in the form of a military base, or bases. The underlying story will be America gaining access to the rare earth materials in the fight against China for global top dog status in the next century.

The complicating factor for me is how Denmark factors into all this, but if the Greenland people have a referendum - thereā€™s only 57,000 of them - itā€™s not difficult to see how America could buy them off.
