And the way NATO has been dismantled by Trump , I’m really not sure there’s any benefit at all to joining the remnants of it now.
I agree with your first points, but the latter is for now, incorrect.
Europe will continue to fund Ukraine and it has been relatively widely reported the last few days that there is a massive stockpile scramble to gather military equippment for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the American proposal has no security guarantees, which is why Ukraine will not sign the current proposal anyway. Ukraine has today sent a new proposal to the US. It’s very much a developing situation, not a fixed one.
I see Trump pivoting East to target China and Quad
Hopefully the US will find out that the likes of India are tougher to deal with. But who knows , maybe he’ll see a real estate opportunity in Kashmir as a means to solve the Kashmir dispute. Dumb cunt.
*The Ukrainian side received a new version of the agreement that turned out to be an order of magnitude tougher than the first version, - NV *
*The new version from the American partners proposes to secure 100% ownership of the future fund for the United States and to distribute the parties’ contributions to the fund in a ratio of two to one, where the Ukrainian side contributes two-thirds with future revenues from mining, and the American side - one-third, which it has already provided in the form of weapons. *
*The American side proposes to set the size of the fund at $500 billion. The agreement covers not only minerals, but also gas and oil. Future revenues from ports are not included in the agreement. *
The Ukrainian side proposes to review the volume of the fund and establish the need to use the fund’s money exclusively for investments in Ukraine.
I’ll use a less categorical voice now than I sometimes do:
It is becoming clear, like I and some other have argued before, that the US proposals are not designed or aimed for Ukraine to be able to agree to them. It seems likely it is a plot/game to justify blaming Ukraine and Europe for the war and withdrawing from all of it. Perhaps NATO too.
It’s the “art of making a deal” all over again. There’s no salesmanship or any shit involved when you know that you hold the aces and the other side has little option.
This is the Chinese debt trap shit , only 1000 times worse.

thought a betrayer was a traitor in English.

It is Magnus someone who betrays thier country is a traitor.
I read it the same as you.
Though the OP’s point I felt is that means Ukraine couldn’t sign or shouldn’t sign because otherwise they would betray thier country and so become traitors.
Perhaps I was too difficult. I suppose I can be. I just read it as Zelinsky would be betraying Ukraine if he bowed to dictat, which would normally be true, but perhaps a bit more complicated if the choice is between colonisation and destruction.
If that is the choice. I am not sure it is. It doesn’t have to be. But of course, if the US would not only stop all Ukraine aid, but start supporting Russia with intel and worse; at that point, the military situation becomes impossible even if Europe steps.
I’m the “fatalist” if that’s the right word to use. But this probably will be the end result.
The whole thing is nothing than a big ol resource grab. It was from the very beginning. US gets what they want , Russia gets what they want and us plebs are stuck moaning about the injustice of it all.
It would be monumental and strategic though. Already Germany’s likely chancellor has brought up the prospect of entering France nuclear umbrella etc. It would have large repercussions, not only for Ukraine but strategically overall.
It would be a geopolitical earthquake and lead to very likely nuclear proliferation in Europe. Poland, Sweden, other countries; are actually carefully talking about this. Breakout Time for many European states is very, very low. Many have the technology, so it would not be anything like Iran or North Korea trying to get nukes after decades.
But we’ll see. I am pessimistic too (also because I don’t have high hopes for some European states to do what is in their interests versus what is politically convenient in the short term), you know. I think you have seen that. But I do have some hope still that it will not come to this.
All of this is in the wrong thread.
I woke up, saw 20 odd posts, and thought something had happened in US politics.
He really does think he is God,and is a dictator and fucking well knows it.
It is his dream come true, and a small majority of voters endorsed it.
Which is why @toro shouldn’t be responded to. He is just an idiot troll as previously noted. Should be banned IMO, in the interim just put him on ignore
It shouldn’t be long before they start publicly burning them.
Ignored yes.
Banned no, not for me not yet, most of us are ‘big’ enough to ‘support’ this and he might come to his senses if he’s honest enough with himself and with the more balanced views we generally have on here.
That’s just woke DEI far-left transgender talk!
Ban? Why ban? He says what he wants, you say what you want. I can see how he can be antagonistic to some of you but is this a forum where there can be one correct side? Has he said anything that is offensive to Liverpool FC that deserves banning from a Liverpool FC forum?
So if all the staff responded marking all 5 points as Confidential can Trump and Musk do anything?
