Not in the sense that they are known as now, personally i think it would be great to see American politics fracture and split ( i know its already happened) to the point where a few new movements basically creates new foundations for new political parties to grow and maybe one of them emerges as a third option to break the cycle of shite that is american politics of dems/reps…but as it is i genuinely have no idea whats going to happen stateside other than some guns nuts going crazy and maybe starting something that may end the country as we know it, which in all honesty may not seem to far fetched.

Not that knowledgeable about the US system but my gut feeling is that any sizeable third party that appears is more likely to split the Democrat vote and therefore make it easier for Republican party to win elections.

Historically the largest 3rd party that existed was the anti mason party…that would be a great start, maybe the pro-reality party or something

That’s not actually his argument. His is that it’s is difficult to get things done (specifically, to build) in cities run by Dems. It’s a meaningfully different proposition.
Fwiw Ezra has been banging this drum for a long time. People seem to want to listen more now because of the election and the search for what has gone wrong with the Dem brand. But while I largely agree with Ezra i think it’s dubious to relate the two too directly.
