Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

Today there have been two despicable attacks by Russia and Israel. Russia basically murdered 24 Ukrainian civilians with ballistic missiles and Israel pretty much disabled the last operational hospital in Gaza.

The US has directly and indirectly aided and abetted both attacks.

It’s funny but tragic. The guy is clearly suppressing his natural urges because of the hateful way he was probably brought up. Instead of embracing who he is, he spreads hate and fear of others with the same inclination. Would have some sympathy for the guy if he wasn’t a piece of shit.

As @Limiescouse reminds us….its bigger than just Trump. He is the product of a frankly sick society. The millions who voted for him aren’t going away.

People that balk at these evil pieces of shit being compared to Nazis are simply not paying attention or are fine with it.

That may be the case for the source of the outbreak, but if you vaccinate your population, then the risk of it spreading becomes much less than if they remain unvaccinated you muppet bellend

It isn’t. The vast majority of cases are white rural fundies, anti-vaxxers. Ontario has a serious outbreak in the center of covid vaccine mandate protests

You’re missing my point.

Whether the original source is from an immigant or not, had the local population actually been vaccinated, then it would not have spread as wide or as fast as it has, so this is purely down to idiots thinking they know better than science and the experts that study the infection and spread of deseases like this for a living.

The point is, they don’t give a shit about the measles outbreak. This is just another blatant fabrication to attack minorities.

No, I think you are missing mine. It is a vicious racist lie that has no connection to the facts. Epidemiologically, you are absolutely correct about the community this is spreading in, but there is no evidence to suggest it came from migrants from Mexico. The Chihuahua outbreak started after the Texas one, and is almost certainly an extension of it.

They have fired about 40% of those experts. CDC just declined to answer a state request for assistance, because ALL of their lead poisoning experts have been laid off.

I’ve seen a lit of their ā€œinsightsā€ of late and it’s pretty embarrassing how they misunderstand or in many cases seriously misquote scientific articles / papers.

Part of me says, screw 'em but there’s also a really small part of me that wonders if the titles and summary sections of science papers could be written in non science speak to stop that misappropriation from happening? I’m just thinking out loud on it.

Or they could actually educate their population. I posted yesterday about over 50% of the adult population only being able to read to a 6th grade level, maybe should should teach people how to actually read and how to research rather than just picking on certain words and phrases

Older than Biden and Trump and sharper than them put together times a million.

While that is a solution, but I do wonder if science should take some responsibility and adapt to the problems and challenges it currently faces.

But why should science dumb itself down to the average American?
