Kevin Hall is a legend. Nutritional science is full of bad data generated from bad study designs, but Hall has spent 2 decades applying a rigor to the field, supported by his tenured position at the NIH, that no one else has come close to. Increasingly over the past decade his focus has turned to the problems of the unhealthy food environment and has a track record that should have made him a natural and invaluable ally to the supposed RFK agenda. Yet they dont give actually give a shit about actual science. They have a narrative they have already decided on and any actual science that isnt in complete lock step with that gets stepped on. So, a genuine pioneer in the field, one who has produced so much of the foundational work that normal scientists use for their own work, has felt his only option is to leave and take early retirement rather than have his work get silenced or misrepresented to fit a political agenda.

Here he is echoing an argument that many in the administration are using, and it gives the entire game away - we are right to take this action against a group of people because there are individuals in that group we can point to who have done bad things.

The degree of lying in this administration is absolutely astounding. This is not just an issue of political spin, it it every day across multiple areas of the administration, they are making comments that are completely at odds with reality.
The reason is seemingly increasingly clear - what they actually want to do in the specific is incredibly unpopular, so they ignore reality and just talk about high level ideas most people agree with regardless of how inconsistent that is with the reality or what they are doing. It is textbook Motte and Bailey.
Renditions someone here legally with not criminal record - âlook we just want to get criminals and terrorists off the street. Why do you have a problem with that?â
The best example is the budget. DOGE is positioned as critical because our budget deficits are a national security problem and extreme measures have to be taken to get it under control. But this is the debate they actually having among themselves about what to do with the budget
