I just checked and the grounds range from 45,000 to 94,000. I think a couple of the smaller ones were in Canada, and lots of the grounds are at the upper end of the range. Itās an unusual World Cup because it is hosted by Canada, Mexico and America.
Yeah, all the stadiums in the US are NFL stadiums so have capacity in the high 60k at the low end, with the one in NJ that is hosting the final (a truly awful choice, and uniquely american perspective of what the experience of going to a game should be) of 80k+
Grand Park in Westfield, IN, has been selected as one of the team base sites. My lad played there for a few years and itās just up the road from where I live. Iām a bit torn over the whole thing. Part of me wants England to get Grand Park as their base, so I can go over there and tell Harry Kane that heās crap
But another part of me has trepidation about the whole thing. Itās a festival of football, fans from all over the world coming together to celebrate, and with it, usually some drinks, mostly good behavior, and maybe a little fuss around the edges. Itās that aspect that I donāt think the current climate in America is poised to deal with well.
I honestly wonder when theyāll get out the caps and the boots. Given how they like to provoke the media, itās actually astonishing that they havenāt done it yet.
Hello, come and enjoy the world cup, and then worry about getting locked up in an El Salvadorian prison because you have Real Madrid tatoos or whatever. Just about every damn player is scrawled with tatts let alone the fans.
Weāve heard from them that they are looking for additional partners to strike El Salvador style deals with, but sending them into an active war zone is beyond what even I thought they were capable of pursuing.
