Itâs disgusting. The Democratic Party is so fucked up. I would have wished it eradicated if it was not for the fact that GOP is insanely worse.
The state of Democracy in the US is really Third World banana republic stuff.
Itâs hard not to wonder how the 2024 election might have gone if Joe Biden had delivered more or less that same message in 2022, gracefully passing the torch with enough time for a Democratic successor to put together a full campaign, instead of a slapdash 107-day effort.
Well, hard not for me to wonder, that is. Biden himself apparently has no such regrets.
The issue with Hogg is he has big conflicts of interest for someone in a leadership position in the DNC and he has done nothing to divest himself from them. Even worse is those outside interests have real credibility problems.
He runs a PAC ostensibly focused on raising up new younger candidates. It is a valid mission, but he personally gets paid handsomely enough by the PAC for it that it has raised concerns over the balance of where the raised funds go leading to accusations of it being a âScam PACâ. The main criticism of him pushing this Agenda from within the DNC is the conflict of interest and the inferred endorsement of what is at best a skeptically viewed PAC, rather than the mission itself.
This all reminds how I learned to hate too much (unregulated) political pluralism when I studied Political Science many years ago, where the US is the most grotesque example in the West. By too much, I few regulations on funding, as they get funded by private (and more problematically than parties, is individuals) capital intersts and unregulated lobby groups instead of the state partly funding them and thus evening up a bit the playing field; which results in what we call democracy in the US. Itâs all private money and PACs and revolting undemocratic stuff like that.
And then Americans complain about powerful lobbies like Oil and Arms industry and AIPAC. Well, the system is designed like that. The system is awful. Politicians must do the bidding of these lobbies naturally.
Good. Itâs important that all the world sees how crazy he is, lest they think Zelensky did something wrong (which he did not). Particularly Ru friendly African and Latin American states needs to experience this, so they understand that itâs not just his Ru friendly instinct that makes him humiliate and play ridiculous games with State Leaders. It is positive that they therefore experience such humiliation as well. Although he was sadly a million times kinder to the SA leader than to Zelensky, who was barbequed, so it would have helped if he turned on more flame (or if Vance interfered with venom).
I want him to implode and at least damage his partyâs reelection chances beyond repair (crucially important for the United States and the wider world) and hopefully (but I donât believe it is possible, sadly) not be able to fulfill his term as president. Sadly, to achieve such a worthy result, collateral damage to others is unavoidable and at at times, strictly necessary.
But I see this through a ruthless lens and I am quite honest about thatâŚ
So strategically, in an odd way, this was a good thing (for Ukraine and Europe, not the US, of course, which humiliates itself, albeit if it contributes to damage to GOP, it is likely a positive for the US as well in the long term).
Seems to me that if world leaders stop beating a path to Trumps door, to be in many cases abused and rubbished, and the media stopped hanging on every word, usually bollocks, the narcissistic orange arsehole would shrivel quickly, he would be stuffed not being the centre of attention.
The world would be a better place!
