There will of course be the conversation of whether he means it and what it means about the mentality that people who oppose him (sometimes it is said oppose him reflexively rather than with considered opinions) take this seriously. But that actually doesnt matter. Even the mention of this is WAY out of bounds and incredibly corrosive to democracy and our governing institutions. This is what Trump has been doing since 2016 when he first started talking about refusing to accept the result of that election because if he lost it was only because Hillary cheated. He then won and continued arguing the election was rigged and our politics never recovered.

He should have been drummed out at that point, and even the mention of this now should be impeachment/25th amendment territory

I’m not well versed in US policy in a historical context. Lately however I was drawn to the thought of why so much of the policy is based on an “alpha male” concept and a basic level of education and health.

In many ways this seems to be linked into, and extension of, the Uk’s post WWI stance (and probably most European countries) of requiring children 15 or older being healthy and being able to follow basic instruction - presumably to fight wars.

This concept has in many ways been defunct for about 50 or 60 years.

isnt that kinda the point though… no one, not even a deranged lunatic, spent time on it…just a machine asked to produce something…its just a waste of resources and time, not to mention how demeaning it must be to the American populace that the highest office in the land is just churning out this enviromentally and publicly damaging guff without a care in the world.

i know its not the most damaging of the regimes actions, but on many levels, even though its not immediately causing harm, it kind is one of the most damaging things he can do to the office.

the leader of your country is comfortable letting a robot do his talking for him.

The reasoning is as follows. In the Uk (and I may be over emphasising a personal interpretation over the broader policy) a post WWI review found broad deficiencies in tech, basic skills (reading/writing), health and industry in general. One of the immediate goals was to ensure enough bodies left school that were healthy and able to read and write enough to follow instruction so a more technical war could be fought. That basic principal seemed to be the bedrock of most subsequent education policies.

I wonder if in the US there was a similar path? Not necessarily post WWI but at some point prior?

I’d say it’s one of those that can technically happen but won’t because of the whole shit storm that would happen.

He needs a house to block him anyhow so he can blame them. He will just say they are rigged. Donald cares about himself any of the “losers” are just that and they didn’t show the true amount of adulation for Donald J Trump.
