Tried to get tickets but just wasn’t possible. Probably better on TV anyway.

Who is favourite to win this year?

I found this:

The current Eurovision 2023 odds have Sweden as 4/5 favourites, followed by Finland (4/1) and Ukraine (5/1).

Interesting that the finish one is high. I heard it and it sounds like a slightly poppy camp version of Rammstein. I rather liked it.

Sweden’s entry, the favourite… :man_shrugging: Loreen - Tattoo

Didn’t she win it a few years ago? I’ve heard that on the radio a couple of times so I expect it’s getting a fair bit of radio play across Europe.

That Sweden entry looks like it’s gonna take all the beating.

If I was still a betting man I’d be having a nibble on France at 10/1.

Yeah…

We have often have absolutely no explanations for what Let 3 as a band does.

They’re just a walking provocation, they don’t take themselves seriously, just like creating shock moments and they enjoy doing it.

:joy:

But also, they’re quite popular here and they’re not knew. Some of their work and songs are really good.

The song can be interpreted in different ways, but there are some clear indications and clues that it’s mocking/criticizing what Putin (and even Lukashenko!) and Russia are doing at the moment.

Musically, it’s a bit meh to me. Part of the song is just rubbish without rhythm, but the main part is actually catchy.

Other than that, they’re so unpredictable. Don’t be surprised if they have another shock up their sleeve for the main night(s).

Poor Sean, the “other fella” didn’t get quite as warm a reception!

The Eurovision YouTube pages are here:

I’ll have a look through that later. Unfortunately our satellite dish is buggered again so I’ll have to see if I can stream the iPlayer through the VPN.

Uk song pretty uninspired once again but also I hated last year’s entry and it came second so maybe it’ll do fine.

We did a Eurovision party about a month ago (based on the youtube videos for each song) with a big group of friends and our top three was…

  1. Moldova
  2. Finland
  3. Belgium/Austria tied.

Bottom three

  1. Poland
  2. Sweden
  3. Spain

Oddly enough, I really liked the UK entry last year and even voted for it. This year’s sounds like some generic Autotuned pop and I have very little recollection of it. Having said that, I’m a middle-aged fart with dodgy hearing, so what do I know!
