Ex-player Darwin Nunez

Not sure Mo will like playing in the middle.

The other two forwards have to play around him.

Shame it didn’t work out for him and us. That fee though… :sob:

Atleast small mercies.

It would be easier to digest a loss of 20m as opposed to a loss of 34m.

Always wondered if this was true. I think with the last 4 games and the way they were set up it would suggest it probably was.

I did half expect him to come on at half time mind, though it just looked like Slot gave up.

No doubt the title probably had a clause mind.

I hope this is fake news…

The internet.

Considering he spent a few months not playing him to avoid paying out a clause if you’d believe the internet then this makes zero sense.

I bet he got it from @Hetro_Relix

I would keep him. Show of faith. No one better out there for sensible money.

Is Ekiteke better? I do not think so.

More chance of FSG announcing the sale of a 49% stake in the club to George Gillett and Tom Hicks than Darwin Nunez remaining with us beyond the summer window.

All the signs pointed to a parting of the ways, and I still think that’s what will happen this summer.

Still, if we take it at face value, it might be because we anticipated a good offer for Darwin, similar to the Saudi money on the table in January, and if that has not materialized, coupled with the expensive striker market for talent that still has it all to prove, I could just about see how he stays.

Maybe in addition to Wirtz, Frimpong and Kerkez, we buy a young winger, fast, versatile, already good but with a lot more potential to unlock - someone like Fofana or Akliouche?

Given the underwhelming striker market we would then hang on to Darwin and see what’s what by next summer?

Well of course… it could be the TAA shenanigans that are starting to influence the mindset of some of the players… Viz: Just play at the club until your contract runs down to zero… leave on a free and scoop up the financial reward from others

It’s a shame Newcastle and Chelsea have both made it into the Champions League next season as it probably complicates our business for buying a new centre forward.

Newcastle’s interest appears to be in finding a back up for Isak after deciding to release Callum Wilson. I know they are linked to Etikite, but I cannot imagine they’d be able to compete for the really high profile guys everyone else is circling around, both in cost and attractiveness of the proposition of the player.

Minor difference in the “just play until your contract ends”, Trent was one of the key players for us, we will not let Nunez get to the end of his. And don’t worry, he’s got 3 more nice years on his deal…

Yeah, my thinking was though that if Newcastle hadn’t qualified for the Champion’s League, we would probably be signing Isak.
