A lot of these kids haven’t spent the entirity of their growing up (or football education before turning pro/first teamers) at one club. So for me their background in detail doesn’t really matter. Whether it’s Sterling or a local Liverpudlian who came to the club when he first kicked a ball at a club, I just want the best/right players and if they can’t make it here, sell for profit. Would put both in the same bracket. It’s incredibly hard to judge how that development went and which club should get how much “credit”.
Sure, but players like Quansah who rocked up to the academy in nappies never having been associated with another club are incredibly rare. Sterling was acquired as a 15 year old and spent 2 years in the academy before playing his first senior game. And it would be another half a year before he was even a semi regular.
If he doesnt count as an academy product, then very few of the prospects we have now in the academy would count as academy products either. Not Trey. Not Rio, Not Nallo.
Yeah, that’s why I said, most of these players are not Quansah’s case. Sterling was one of those deals like others we tried to make (and often failed) with well known, high reputation young talents. A combination of the best talents locally, nationally and foreign is the way to go.
This is all you need Jarrell:
Na ja, es ist ein Spiel mit zwei Halbzeiten. Unser fans sind grossartig, meine Kumpels sind unglaublich, der Schiri war ein Arschloch.
Der Runde muss nicht ins Eckige.
Voll geil hier in der Kölner Vorstadt!
I didn’t realise Köln was that close. We were in Sauerland last weekend, and I had no idea countryside like that was in NRW. We were only 30km from Dortmund.
Anyway, Jarrell will have to have a tour of Kölner Dom. It’ll strengthen his hamstrings no end.
Dear Jarell,
You are not leaving, you are just going on an adventure. Thanks for the memories. Remember, You Will Never Walk Alone.
Love,
