Ex-Player: Luis Diaz

Plus, we wanted Olmo and Gordon, possibly in different periods of last summer and connected to this possibility of Diaz leaving.

Interesting to read that Man cheaty recognised that we don’t see them as rivals but mastic shit that got stuck to our shoe.

Shit league though, innit

It’s not shit, but he will definitely have better numbers over there. It’s a great league for forwards and strikers. Someone “had to” give him that next big contract in this period of 28 to 32/33 years of age. Last season, he manage to better his career best of 16 goals by 1. In Germany, if there are no injuries and he’s on it, in this Bayern team, he should comfortably get past 20. Maybe close to 30.

He’s as inferior player to Mane as Gakpo is to him. Selling him made sense for everyone - the only issue is that Gakpo suddenly regressed, as did the rest of the side, otherwise no one would be talking about Diaz, who had one and a half great season for Liverpool. That said, he’s playing for a team that has had Bundesliga in a chokehold for ages on every front, so scoring for fun is about the minimum of expectations.

Ironically Sadio didn’t score for fun for Bayern.
Hate to say it, but the way they’re using Diaz right now is really getting the most out of him, not even just in offense, but his defensive contribution in a team that is currently collectively chasing the ball and opponents all across the pitch.

It depends from player to player, the career they had behind them, miles in their legs, the team they’re getting into, etc. Diaz was looking for that “final” confirmation of his career at a top club, be it getting that new/improved deal at Liverpool or elsewhere.

I thought Sane would absolutely piss on the Bundesliga when he went from City to Bayern, still at a brilliant age, but although he’s been a (relative) success, he wasn’t that impressive. Them getting Olise was a brilliant move, very good decision.

Mane really spent his best years at Liverpool, that’s where he made the next steps, became a more complete player. It’s a bit like when Thiago was one of the world’s best midfielders when they won it all in 2020, we were getting a quality proven player, but someone who’s past his peak.

At least we know who the next Man City coach will be once Guardiola calls it a day…
