Thiago 3 Goals 6 Assists
Naby 11 Goals 7 Assists
The first touch which @rupzzz was talking about was against Palace away.
Said debut turn that game was one of his best and was his debut so I assumed it was that.
I was half right then
Would be interesting to see the G/A per game ratios
No
Thank fuck you donât pick teams for us, as you havenât a clue, I thought Dutch was bad but you take the biscuit
While all the posters were jerking off about Liverpool potentially starting to play TikiTaka football when Thiago comes in iâve predicted that his already bad injury record will get even worse here. Guess I had a clue about that.
While people talked about Thiago going to transform our midfield Iâve warned that he doesnât even have the energy level to play in a Klopp side. His arrival was the end of our high press.
Naby was man of the match in a 5-0 away win at Old Trafford.
Worth every penny.
unfortunately, just made of glass.
What the hell did I do
Is it letâs kick Dutch week âŚ
pass di Dutchie pon di left hand sideâŚ
He was part of a midfield that was so close to the quad, and that is taking into account Man Cheaty and a final against Madrid where we were the better team and Madrids goalie was the motm.
Our press went with Gini moving on, Fab and Hendo losing their legs and injuries.
I have pointed out to you on numerous occasions how Thiago has been our best midfield ball winner. Also if he was playing now, he would be playing 6 not 8 and it seemed we slotted him in as an 8, because our other 8âs werenât performing before this season.
The only thing you were right in is his injuries, but unlike Keita, Thiagi got his from being overused.
When heâs played well you have never offered praise and only mention him to slag him off, some support that is!
Biggest problem I have with both Keita and now Thiago is you want to build a side with them in it but you canât. Youâre, were basically on tender hooks every moment theyâre on the pitch which hasnât been anywhere near enough anyway.
This post states the obvious. Feel free to disregard after 5 seconds
I read that since Thiago last played he has been paid ÂŁ7,200,000 in wages.
Sooner that contract ends the better.
Why? Have you been training with the club to know what he offers (or does not, in your case) to the first team and young players behind the scenes?
The same thing was said about Milner before he left. Its not all about if he plays or trains week in week out. Its also about having a seasoned professional, who has seen and done it all, around you to provide you valuable insights. Especially with the young ones traning close to the first team, if not with them.
We knew the risks associated with Thiago and judged him worth the risk.
Keita was supposed to be the face of Kloppâs new midfield and that was a far bigger failure.
To what degree could Klopp and the transfer team predict that KeĂŻta would be injured so frequently?
Itâs injuries that limited the playerâs impact here, not ability.
Thereâs a difference in their ages and periods of their careers when they joined Liverpool.
Keita was 23 with a season in Ligue 2, two seaasons in Austria and two seasons in the Bundesliga.
Thiago was 29, a winner with Barca and especially Bayern in his pocket. One of Europeâs finest CMâs at the point when Bayern won their last CL. Perhaps he also peaked that season.
With Keita, I had big hopes. He shouldâve been the next serious layer added in midfield. A CM who is technically of high level, but also provides defensive qualities. I couldnât wait for him to join and on our route to Kiev, I wished constantly that he was there (or that Lallana was fit and producing his 16/17 form!).
Overall, yeah you could see that Liverpool and the PL was a bit high for him in terms of intensity. Mentally also he seemed a bit timid. Generally not robust and available enough to accomplish what he was brought for. Still, played a lot of good games for us. But fans will forget a lot of those as he will go into the âwas never fit, flopâ bracket.
With Thiago, come on we all knew that was never this 50+ games per season machine. With him, we knew what we were doing. I said at the time that thereâs nothing wrong with the player for us, but that there is a risk in terms of availability and just how good the deal is.
Especially as we were signing him for the period between his age of 29 and 33. Coming to a more intense league and into a more intense team. Not that he cannot do the defensive side of the game, he used to have some of the best stats around when it comes to off the ball stuff at Bayern.
Took him a little bit of time at the start, he came into a side that generally had a weak season. He started off way too aggressive (perhaps too eager to prove he can do it in England and for Kloppâs Liverpool). Klopp also played him in some weird roles at times, first as a single pivot #6 and then as a high RCM. None of which are his best.
Then, second half and end of the season, he found a proper level (a bit like Jones towards the end of last season) and 21/22 he was very good as starter without any doubts. Last season, again, certain problems in the team (not that by that time he wasnât a part of). But still, he was one of the very rare performing individuals. One of the rare players who played and looked like he belongs at the top level.
His average before Liverpool is very close to his average at Liverpool. Yeah, now itâs very frustrating that heâs closing on a year of being out. But what can we do, is it only the playerâs fault? No. Is it only the clubâs fault? No. Is it only bad luck? No.
Thereâs a good reason why Klopp and his staff constantly looked to add different layers and qualities to our midfield. To put it bluntly, yes, adding technically more able footballers. Because you absolutely need it if you want to at the time become and remain a protagonist team across all competitions. Regardless of your style. You cannot run all the time, play the same game and just continue adding pure miles. Thereâs also a lot of football to be played, even more when teams start closing more and more against you.
We didnât go out and buy irresponsible or simply too offensive technical players. We didnât buy Isco or Ozil and played them in midfield. We bought proper midfielders who are mainly about technique, but do offer skills in both directions of the game.
We looked to add whether that was by toying with Coutinhoâs position, Lallanaâs, Chamberlain, Keita, Thiago, Trentâs position, Jones, MacAllister and Szoboszlai.
