Gakpo
Daichi Kamada was mentioned as a similar type of player here and there. Have to see more of him. Itās difficult to find.
The agent of Liverpoolās Brazil forward Roberto Firmino, 31, believes discussions over a new contract at the club will conclude this month. (Sky Germany, via Mirror)
Fingers crossed.

I think the accumulated exhaustion of the first six seasons is finally taking its toll.
My uncle had 8 daughters before his wife finally gave birth to a boy.
Bobbyās face reminds me of my uncle
Firmino has been offered a short term contract, @FabrizioRomano.
Roberto Firmino will LEAVE Liverpool at the end of the season, ending an 8 year spell. The player has informed Klopp today. He wonāt extend his contract, and will leave on a free transfer. [@Plettigoal]
Moreso believable than not I reckon so getting this out there early, thank you for everything Bobby itās been a wonderful pleasure watching you play & so glad we all got to see you in your prime at this club. Boy are we gonna miss that smile. All the very best & with your wife and beautiful scouse born kids too
Fuckā¦ Gutted heās leaving but itās totally the right decision.
One of my favourite players of the Klopp era.
Proper Legend our Bobby.
Doubt heāll be replaced with all the attackers we brought in recently.
Absolutely.
Won everything there is to win at club level & was part of the most formidable front 3 in Europeā¦you donāt achieve the things heās done if youāre not a special player.
Fuck, one of my favourites for a long time, first ManĆ© and now Firmino, I know all good things come to an end but an already shite season just became a little worse ā¦
Yeah it sucks an itāll suck more if/when itās finally confirmed and his last day comesā¦but at the same time why not use this time to celebrate and be joyous of the incredible time he had here and his development as both a person and a professionā¦from a young(ish) shy lad that didnāt speak a word of English and was flung on the left wing by Rodgers to becoming the player we all witnessed under Kloppā¦a special, very rare type player.
In spite of the rumours/news we have to focus on whatās important, finishing off this season on a high & thatās with Bobby.
Iāll be gutted when he leaves - I said once that he was everything I liked to see from a Liverpool player: technique, graft, teamwork and, ultimately, the joy of actually playing football. However, with his age and recent injury record, quite probably the consequence of playing so much football over the past seven years, itās only logical.
Gakpo looks like the one tasked with the unenvious task of replacing what Firmino offered to the side at his best, so I was already expecting this news. Letās hope Firmino ends his Liverpool career on a high, which would probably mean that he has to contribute to the miracle of finishing fourth in the league.
The head says its time.
The heart says he is the most joyful player I can remember watching, and was the driving force of so mucb of the good that has come our way since Klopps been here. Gonna miss the samba flair and karate kicks.
Ok, then.
Canāt say Iām surprised or satisfied.
As a decision from both camps, itās not a shock. Bobbyās been here for a while, perhaps heās also willing to try something new. When you look at the fact that weāre using Jota, Nunez and Gakpo in his position.
Not to say that there were a lot of games this season when I felt we lacked the elements he provides, or used to.
I was hoping we donāt have to touch the attack this summer in the market (we do have to on the training pitch) and of course, this doesnāt mean we have to. 5 players for 6 positions is doable, especially with someone like Salah. The 6th player could be a more senior player slightly out of position or whoever merits it most of the young talents, like an Elliott, Doak or Gordon.
Itās not like we necessarily have to go for a āKamada on a freeā. Although weāll see.
Butā¦
What I want to see in the near future, whatās left of this season, during pre-season and next season is the following:
- Can this side have Salah on the right and Nunez up top in our 4-3-3 and have enough balance to compete and win things?
- Can the likes of Jota and Gakpo still provide us with something different centrally to Nunez, closer to what Bobby did?
I know Salah will not be here forever, it could well be 2 more full seasons after this one. Nunez might be here post-Salah. In fact thatās probably whatās his task right now, buy yourself a future here to potentially become our main goalscorer after Salah (if not while heās still here, they could be more or less on par), the player who we model the rest of our attack around.
Jota centally has been very much a mixed bag. I remember good games, I remember bad games. Gakpoās shown that his first touch, playing in small spaces, looking to combine with other players is good, but itās still hard to judge him now because he doesnāt look ready enough to go full throttle.
We have to be able to move on from Bobby at some point, but even in our evolution, we will still need to have those principles. If not in our starting option, then enough among our backup options.
I know players donāt have testimonials these days as they get paid more than enough, but if ever anyone deserved one it would be Bobby. It would be great to at least have a pre-season friendly against whoever heās playing for when he retires so we can show our love for him.
When he no look scores our 4th vās Arsenal it will be his testimonial, his final knife into the gunners heartā¦
Gutted.
