Steady on. I haven’t actually said what I believe.
What I’ve tried to say is the way that club runs - with corruption and rule breaking embedded into its operation - means that there will always be a shadow hanging over them. It’s natural that people will see cheating in everything that club does.
You do realise that level of corruption has existed in this sport and not that long ago too? But what people are hinting at and suspicious over would he smaller. Lots of little corruptions here and there. A bribe on the covid test result recordings here, a bribe of a ref there. Not sure I believe it but its a lot more possible than you are making out.
Amigo, there is corruption anywhere there is big money. Corporations buy politicians for multi-million dollar deals all the time. You think it’s any different for multi-billion dollar sports?
There are multiple books written on the subject, but here’s an example
Just had a look at the remaining fixtures. City have got Aston Gerrard on the last day. If we can get to within three points, we’re going to win the league. The fates won’t turn down an opportunity like that.
There are different money tiers right now in the League, and unfortunately we’re in $$$ tier two with Arsenal and Tottenham, and below the Man City, Chelsea, and United tier. If you’re well run, you can compete with the tier ahead of you (like we have under Klopp) and like West Ham are right now competing for a spot in the top 4. And if you’re poorly run, you can fall a tier, like United have. Unfortunately, Man City are not only among the richest, they are also extremely well run. It’s not inevitable that they will continue to get it right; most rich clubs go through spells where they are poorly run (look at Barcelona), but unfortunately, right now, we are up against a juggernaut.
We have no right to win anything more, but then nobody else does either.
If we manage it, it will be probably be the ultimate footballing achievement, and that’s testament to just how difficult it will be to achieve.
To win nothing further will be hugely disappointing, but 2nd place, FA cup semi/finalist, Champions League quarter/semi/finalists and Carabao cup winners is still a season that most other teams could only dream of.
I feel we will still win something more. In fact I ‘expect’ us to win the FA Cup against Chelsea, win the Champions League against Real and take the league to the final day, where anything could happen.
I honestly don’t know what my expectations are for the rest of the season, but it is a hell of a ride!
Winning nothing else would feel like a disappointment, but if we go close to more silverware then after a period of reflection it would be a qualified success.
The quadruple though. Never been done. Impossible dream? Probably, but it is still on.
I want the league and to stop another English club winning the CL (so effectively I want the CL too). Would take a loss in the FA Cup semi if it meant a win in the league game against citeh plus them dropping points in another game just after.
Our best season under Klopp (2018-19 IMO) had the fewest ever number of lost games for the club, 7. Let’s just try to beat that from here and see where it gets us. We’re on 3 defeats so far.
