Sometimes buying no one is better than buying the wrong guy. RW doesn’t worry me much because I think we are much stronger in the attacking line. The problem is still how to defend and how to supply the ball to the front line effectively.
I have some wishes for this season:
- Aroujo and Jacquet establish their role and become seniors. We need to eventually replace VVD next season, so having 2 good options already will help.
- Gomez could be healthy and play like in Klopp’s last season. That would solve a lot of problems in both full-back positions.
- Kerkez shows his value. If not, we may need a new left-back next season.
- Koumas and McConnell contribute at a decent level. They are club-trained, so that’s very important.
- Nyoni becomes a starter. 18-year-old Huijsen, 18-year-old Kroupi, 19-year-old Rayan all became one of the best under Iraola, so why not? We desperately need to improve our passing and Jacquet and Nyoni are the only two who have shown that they can do vertical passes to the front line.
- Ekitike can still perform like before. And I’m pretty sure Isak, Wirtz, and Barcola will be dancing. The team needs to figure out how to provide the ball to them faster.
Of course I wish Bradley could come back stronger, but I don’t see that happening (we still don’t know when he comes back?). But let’s hope we can react quickly in winter if needed and finish the season strong. The league may be gone by then but we could seriously contend for the Champions League.

I’m actually feeling pretty down on what at this point feels like our willful refusal to address some key weaknesses in the squad. To me it doesn’t feel like we’re giving Iraola the best platform to succeed, and I think we’ll be exceedingly lucky if the issues we’re seeing don’t undermine what should be a promising season under an exciting coach.
I hope Iraola and his coaches are up to the task of maximising the teams strengths on the training pitch to mitigate some of the more glaring issues, because it sure as hell looks like they won’t be resolved via further transfers.

I think that´s fair
I am hoping that after Hughes fucks off we might be more keen to back Iraola and we are just waiting for that change, as frustrating as it is.
Noting that we didn´t really buy much (just Chiesa was it?) in Slot´s first season so I don´t know if it´s some new strategy the owners have. FWIW I think that window of not buying has cost us in the longer term, so I hope it isn´t their strategy.

My expectations, or more like hopes:
- Team to play like a proper team
- Quicker, expansive, attacking football that will make us want to watch the team wholeheartedly again
- Players to improve, especially the big money signings that were brought in to lead the team forward
- Kids like Ngumoha and Nyoni to get significant minutes on the pitch
- Fifth spot in PL, elimination phase in CL (we definitely don’t have the balance to do more, while fitness and self-confidence will take time to be stricken into players)

My expectations for the season are to see the team play free flowing attacking football considering the quality of forward players at our disposal. I’d also like to see us make a deep run in the champions league.

im actually a bit more bullish than i have any right to be.
something seems right about Iraola and not having a plethora of new faces.
id actually prefer NOT to spend on another midfield signing and really see what Nyoni is all about, and the other three ( Grav, Dom, Macca) are nowhere near as bad as last season suggests.
the wings look nicely set, maybe a Minteh away from being prime…
would have loved for Ekitike to be closer to game time than currently is.
hanging to see what Iraola can do with Wirtz, with a bit of the jurgen factor into to help aswell.

probably one of the reasons im a bit bullish…feels like the start of something different ( in a good way)… not a Jurgenesque rollercoaster, something like a mix between Rafa and Jurgen…

My expectations for the new season…just win a game…and start to play free flowing attacking football, so I don’t have to keep shouting at the tv…attack, attack, attack…and also use the byline…take defenders to the byline n cross…but make sure someone is on the penalty spot to smash it in the goal…not much to ask really…I live in hope…

We’re gonna have hiccups. The new squad building will take a few more windows. In the meantime, as long as we are playing more cohesive , progressive football, and we can see Andoni’s ideas slowly being implemented, I will be content.

One year back I wrote here on we would be out of sight come christmas because of the signings of Wirtz and Isak.
How wrong I was.
This time around I don’t know what to expect.
So as clueless as I am I only want to enjoy the games of our Reds.
Where us that leads remains to be seen.

Both fullbacks shouldn’t leave training until their feet are bleeding practicing that much needed skill for them, CROSSING!
This new consortium, and money, and hence January, will determine whether we are EL or retain a top 4 standing for next season.
I think we’ll be alright, but its touchin cloth at the moment.

My expectation is another season without a trophy.
Hoping for a good run in the CL K.O. stage. Rebuilding fortress Anfield with some magical nights.
Hope we can improve compared to last season and it will never look like missing out on Top4.
What we need to challenge for a title again:
- a fit Ekitike
- a fit Bradley
- a new CM
- an elite RW
How many contracts are going to expire until we have that? How many more major injuries?
What we also need:
- big improvement from Kerkez, Wirtz and at least one of Dom, Grav or Macca
