Gattuso’s rant about UEFA not getting enough spots and Africa getting too many is really not holding up well. This is the 6th ranked UEFA team, on the verge of going out against the #2 CAF team. England (UEFA 3) had a tough match against CAF #9. NL (UEFA 5) and Germany (UEFA 7) are both out, Netherlands sent home by CAF #1 Morocco. Norway (UEFA 14) looked solid versus Ivory Coast (CAF 6). Both lost some entrants in the group stage, but I think very few observers are watching this tournament and thinking that the African countries don’t belong.

This isn’t a question of a forward having no responsibility to avoid a challenge. It’s about one purposefully altering his stride to purposeful put his foot somewhere that will create contact that wasn’t otherwise going to occur.

This version of Belgium is not really nr 6 any longer though, and personally I think Norway would be favorites if drawn against them.
