Last time we qualified v Peru the coach replaced Ryan for Redmayne for the shoot out. That time it worked. Not hitting the target was the prob not Ryan.

The thing is that kind of change is dangerous because that Ryan was not warmed up like the other keeper therefore he was like a rabbit in the headlight.

I remember when Van Gaal did the keeper change in a WC and it was quite story at the time.

To be fair to Ryan he was the captain and is in La Liga so still well qualified. Everyone disagreed and were shocked when he was dropped for game 1 for the new young guy Beach. No one complaining about that call now. We have a long term GK who will no doubt head out of Oz.

Well done coach, rolled the dice again but whatever.

If he put his name in the ring to take one, then fair dues I say, not too many 18yo’s would have the balls to step up in that situation.

For me the bigger issue is Soutter taking the first penalty. That should have been the No.1 penalty taker going first to get the team settled and relaxed for the rest of them
