This would not be the worst ever WC failure for Brazil, but it might make the top 5.
Far more enjoyable to watch thanks to Japan for actually turning up. Brazil haven’t.
The scene is set for Lucas Leiva to come striding down from the commentary box, pull on a shirt and add some much needed energy and youthful vigour to that Brazil midfield
Over the weekend I was listening to an admittedly good but very American conversation about the impact of the tragedy of 2014 on Brazil’s psyche. And it hit me, every generation of Brazilian fans and players have something they consider a tragedy that defines their football for a generation.
1950 - Uruguay
1966 - Pele getting kicked out of the tournament
1982 - Italy
2014 - 7-1
0.31 vs 0.21 xG in the first half (Brazil vs Japan).
I had totally forgotten that this started at 6pm in the UK.
Obviously, there is only one thing to say…
Haha
I get it.
He’s fat and slow!!
Classic!!
How cool would it not be if Japan to advance! ![]()
Kempai !
brazil lose this, its on ancelotti. what an abomination of a selection
That doesn’t look very good
.
I find all these south american sides thoroughly unlikable..
Brazil and Argentina in particular carry this aura of entitlement..
Lucas was the only likeable south american player..
I hope the team with the nicest anthem will get the first major upset done - but I would feel a bit sorry for the Brazilian fans.
The Japanese anthem is really awesome imo

You forgot Alisson.
Ancelotti looks shell shocked at the good press and well-drilled low block that the Japanese are displaying…
We should be pressing smartly like that next season…
very good point - I liked Diaz as well
I forgot him
.
Speaking of anthem, what a contrast. One sounded like partying all the time, the other felt like a requiem.
Nah … I despise his Bolsanaro support and the crazy christian stuff. Not a good combination.
