Over the weekend I was listening to an admittedly good but very American conversation about the impact of the tragedy of 2014 on Brazil’s psyche. And it hit me, every generation of Brazilian fans and players have something they consider a tragedy that defines their football for a generation.
1950 - Uruguay
1966 - Pele getting kicked out of the tournament
1982 - Italy
2014 - 7-1
