When youāre in front of the defender and heās making a challenge from behindā¦or even getting too close in a position you cannot challenge from, and movement like that is to protect the ball. I

You have always been allowed to step across as Limie says the defender has to concede the play.
I have received many a fouls on me by placing my foot to prevent a player getting the ball when I am in playing distance and possession.

Quite surprised the penalty is overturned. Itās alot to assume that Spence on the front foot would shift his legs in an unnatural manner to induce Bobby to hook and tackle his leg? If I came from behind, put my foot on the ball before the defender and he kicks me even if not deliberately, itās a penalty. Spence is in front, he has the ball, he is holding off Bobb whose legs came from the back to tackle, to me, itās just another strange weird over reach of VAR which again is interfering in the wrong way
