FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 3)

Don´t care who wins, Brazil or Norway. I like both countries and the players in their side, except Vinicius.

Always think it´s enjoyable to watch football that way.

I am on a cruise in Norway so you’d better bet I’m rooting for them… and learning how to row.

Gabriel, Casemeiro, Endrick, Martinelli, Neymar…nah, Norway all day and I think they will.

Meh I don´t have that much against them lot really.

I probably prefer the Norway lads to be fair, but I like Brazil a lot as a country. Great place.

Bent.As.Fuck.

Trump. Infantino.FIFA.

How anyone can get invested in this circus is beyond me

Before a ball was kicked I wanted it to flop badly. I have very little interest in international football to begin with. I was hoping for half-empty stadiums, shit football and, above all else, England to get fucking humiliated.

While the last point still stands, it’s actually been a brilliant WC so far. There have been 3 or 4 outstanding matches, Messi remains a joy to watch and if this WC has done one thing above all else, it’s highlight the sheer fucking corruption, ineptitude and incompetence of the clowns we have ‘refereeing’ the game in this country. If the powers-that-be have any sense at all they will look at this and fuck Webb and his cohort of buffoons off without delay. Too much to ask though.
I go back as far as the 1974 WC and reckon this is the best since '78 and '82.

You spelt Haaland incorrectly .

Martinelli makes me feel sick .

The Belgian Football Federation naturally responded through a scathing statement:

"The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is stunned by FIFA’s decision to declare suspended American player Folarin Balogun eligible to play in the United States- Belgium match scheduled for Monday, July 6 at 5 p.m. (Seattle time).

FIFA bases its decision on article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This provision states that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may decide to suspend the application of a previously imposed disciplinary sanction.

However, article 66.4 of the same FIFA Disciplinary Code clearly provides that a red card (sending-off) automatically results in a suspension for the team’s next match, as has been the case for all red cards shown earlier during this FIFA World Cup.

Moreover, and independently of the above, this decision directly contradicts the provisions of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Regulations, as set out in article 10.5:

‘If a player or team official is sent off as a result of a direct or indirect red card (second caution), he will be automatically suspended for his team’s next match. In addition, further sanctions may be imposed.’

The automatic nature of such a suspension was also explicitly reaffirmed in FIFA World Cup 2026 circular no. 16, which was distributed to all participating member associations on May 12, 2026.

This rule is reiterated at every FIFA World Cup 2026 match coordination meeting before each game and appears in all workshop presentations dedicated to the FIFA World Cup 2026.

In order to safeguard the legitimate rights of all participating teams and preserve the fundamental principles of fair play in our sport, both during this FIFA World Cup and in future editions of the tournament, the RBFA is considering all possible options."

The Whitehouse have contacted FIFA and asked for the red card to be rescinded against that Team USA player that was sent off…
FIFA have complied apparently, and suspended the ban for 12months… this means the player can be selected now against Belgium… Whom suffice to say, are going ballistic..!
Will post the article when I can…

USA striker Folarin Balogun will play in his team’s last-16 game against Belgium on Monday after Fifa announced it has suspended the red card and accompanying one-game ban he received against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

ESPN:
FIFA has suspended the red card U.S. striker Folarin Balogun received in the team’s match against Bosnia-Herzegovina, making him available to face Belgium in the round of 16 at the World Cup.

In a statement on its website, FIFA said: “By operation of Article 27 FDC, the implementation of the automatic match suspension for USA player Folarin Balogun is suspended for a probationary period of one [1] year.”

The U.S. will take on Belgium on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET in Seattle, seeking to advance to its first World Cup quarterfinal appearance since 2002.

A statement by U.S. Soccer said: "We accept the decision of the Disciplinary Committee and are pleased that Folarin Balogun is eligible to compete tomorrow.

“Our full attention is focused on the Round of 16 match against Belgium in Seattle, and we look forward to the continued support of our amazing fans.”

U.S. President Donald Trump also weighed in on the matter, saying on Truth Social:

“Thank you to FIFA for doing what was right, and reversing a great injustice!”

It’s an absolute outrage that no games are being shown on free-to-air TV here today. And finding a stable stream really isn’t that easy right now. Hopefully, this one holds up.

And good luck @Magnus

He did actually touch the ball. But…

Looks like a pen, but I don’t like how Cunha grabbed the ref.
