So I read. I think it is absurd nonsense myself not wanting to get bronze, but it is what you and people like Shearer claim:

The feeling of winning a bronze medal/3rd place match mentality may sometime be better than losing the gold medal match and comes in 2nd.
i dont even know how the players get up for this game. its akin to a preseason game at this point
