Yo @Iftikhar - What you reckon…? Which Country…?
That flag looks like it was drawn up on a Commodore 64.

Bold push for new Australian flag without the Union Jack
Story by Cameron Carpenter
Hundreds of Australians are advocating for a new national flag that would unite us all under one banner, after Peter Dutton declared he would not stand in front of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags.
Anthony Albanese has displayed the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags alongside the Australian flag at press conferences since he became prime minister in 2022.
But Mr Dutton said the nation should be united under one flag, and that he would appear only under the national flag of Australia.
‘I’m very strongly of the belief that we are a country united under one flag, and if we’re asking people to identify with different flags, no other country does that, and we are dividing our country unnecessarily,’ he told Sky News earlier this week.
As the debate erupted, a proposed redesign of the nation’s flag was shared on Reddit as a potential solution to uniting the nation under one banner.
It features Southern Cross with the Aboriginal flag in the space currently occupied by the Union Jack was shared on Reddit on Wednesday.
They pointed out that Sam Neill had worn the same design on his arm in the 1997 movie Event Horizon.
‘The flag Sam Neil repped in Event Horizon has always been the solution,’ they said.
The flag sparked debate on social media, with many wanting a new design - but not that one.
‘Lacking in design symmetry. It is unbalanced and ugly. Just a bastardisation of both flags,’ one said.
‘As an Aboriginal person, I agree. The flag needs to change but not this,’ a second added.
‘The creator of the Aboriginal flag has said numerous times they do not want it to be the canton. A flag in the canton area represents control and dominion, which is not what they want to achieve,’ a third said.
Prominent Australian writer Peter FitzSimons is one of the prominent figures advocating the redesign of the Australian national flag.
FitzSimons retweeted the proposed change, included the caption: ‘This would at least be a step in the right direction,’ in January 2022.
He is one of the directors of Ausflag, alongside politicians, celebrities, writers and businessmen including Vince Sorrenti, Ray Martin, Philip Adams and Anne Keating.
Their website says they aim to find a flag to ‘represent our nation and its people, our past, present and future, our land, our equality and diversity, our achievements, our hopes and aspirations.’
It adds: ‘We can do much better. Help us tell our story, not someone else’s.’
FitzSimons has dismissed the current flag - which has been official since 1953 - with the quote from US comedian Jerry Seinfield: ‘I love your flag. Great Britain, at night.’
Ausflag has been collecting designs since 2015, with the public able to support their favourites, with some attracting thousands of votes.
Many of the most popular have incorporated a kangaroo into the design but one of the most popular is a Southern Cross and a federation star above stripes of green and gold - the nation’s sporting colours derived from a blooming wattle.
It just edged out another Southern Cross design, which has a green and gold boomerang through the centre.
Another Southern Cross flag, which is a version of the Aboriginal flag as a rising sun over a dark red horizon, also attracted thousands of votes.
FitzSimons previously said the national flag could be changed at the stroke of a pen if Canberra chose to.
‘Like the republic - though they are separate issues - changing the flag is a matter of political will, not money.’
The current Australian flag was adopted upon the federation of the six British colonies into a nation in 1901.
FitzSimons previously led the Australian Republican Movement, which wants to replace the King with an Aussie as head of state.
I agree. It needs to change, but not to that.
It is an old norse swastika.
Or Sun Wheel. In Deutch, Sonnenrad. Norwegian Solhjul…
The Isle of Man was part of the “Noregsvelde”. There are still some relics, and although this swastika is far more modern, it points to that time.
You will notice, also the raven is included in their coat of arms.
Though there is also this,
So may have influence from there. But I suspect that when it was made, they choose the sun wheel due to it’s historical connection. The Sicilian one is pretty though.
And yes, I found this thread now. I cannot imagine nor fathom how you people have managed to survive here without me !
Thanks.
When I saw your post, I was thinking what the hell are you taking about, and had recheck my post.
I wish my teachers and family were such generous in my praise.
I was wondering why @Iftikhar changes the thread title every other week… Guess he has his reasons, or maybe he just been trying to hide it from some undesirables… I would be a tad wounded that he would do that to you @Magnus - he normally seems a decent guy… Ya just can’t tell these days eh :0)
Over to you @Iftikhar or anybody else good at Vexillology :0)
Eritrea?
I was thinking Ethiopia - same region of Africa, so Eritrea could be a good shout.
But just to keep the game interesting I will stick with Ethiopia
That old one looks
I’m wondering what the actual meaning of the pentagram is for them? Morocco has a similar sort of symbol on their flag.
I used to remember the Moroccan flag as having the sort of symbol that Led Zeppelin stuck on their albums - the Led Zeppelin guys were influenced by the music from there.
