Good luck to Andy Carroll.
Obviously on the whole he was a poor signing for us, but I still remember some games where he was almost unplayable. The memory fades a bit, and maybe we get kinder as it does, but I thought he was unlucky with injuries.
He was unlucky with injuries in the way someone who doesnât take their responsibilities as a professional can be âunluckyâ. Not just in style, but in terms of attitude to the game I think he was 10 years too late.

Carroll was what a benteke was , what a balotelli was⌠An abject failure of a transfer.
Atleast we got good money for benteke. But he didnât suit our style at all.
Just donât know what the thought process behind balotelli was. Fucking shirked when tackled down the wings. Absolutely abysmal.
Yep, thatâs fair enough. I suppose that was the kind bit I was referencing, as the memory sifts out some things with the passage of time. He had his injuries and definitely had his moments as a player, but I recall a player who also liked a tipple and wasnât the most professional.
Still, the old football romantic in me is glad to see a former player, at the end of his career and long past his best, getting fit to play the game we all love, even if it is at a lower level. Good luck to him.
