Yeah I meant Olympiakos!
He scored in that game as well. Got in where it hurts and thumped it in.
He always seemed popular with the players and those at the club. If he had just had that extra yard of pace I suspect he would have stayed on longer.
Yep, but what games they were:
Without his contribution, there is no Istanbul, no 5th European Cup and the highlight of Gerrardâs career.
Then there was this:
TBH, more of a cult hero than legend, but one I fondly remember.
Thanks for the vid. Exactly how I remember it!
Nice one Hendo. Heâs actually been pretty good this season, getting better every match for Brentford. Glad to see that.
For me, itâs much more the Arsenal winner that sticks out as the main memory of Mellor. I donât think he wouldâve gone on to play for Liverpool even if he had more luck with injuries, I didnât see him as that level of talent. But we had issues then and Rafa used the squad the best he knew. I believe if it was up to him, he wouldâve kept Heskey and possibly not splash the transfer record on Cisse (of course, a deal that was in the making for a while). We were left with two main strikers who realistically werenât a great fit together (especially for Rafaâs system) and they would be quickly replaced.
Brendan rodgers off to manage in the Saudi league!
I wonder what will be brighter out there in Saudi?
The sun or his teeth?
If there is one person I expected to go there itâs him.
I thought a dude on the southeastern service to Hayes (Kent) was Ox.
Itâs not him.
Thatâs for the Former Players & Managers lookalike thread.
I had my hair like Sahin for a while and I got some fans chant Sahin at me, I was in a mood so apologies if one of those was on here. Found it amusing later.
Heâs also a regular on LFCtv so he has a lot of access to former stars through interviews etc.
I donât begrudge him the accolades, but he seems like the ultimate bit part player.
I wonder what if Rooney was poached by our scouts instead of Everton? Just a thought experiment.
With hindsight this was a huge missed opportunity.
Or tried to buy him when he was leaving, as itâs impossible to prevent, no matter how good the scouting team is.
We should do a Sol Campbell move every once in a while. I know he was free, but in general I mean.

He went for 25M in 2004. Not sure we would have had the cash to have even got a seat at the table for that deal.
Thatâs a good point yeah, it wouldâve been more expensive than Cisse, so who knows if it was even doable financially. And Everton might have decided categorically not to sell to us.
Not sure about that, we signed Nick Barmby and Adel Xavier direct from them.
I know, but itâs also very rare.
For example, Heinze potentially coming to us from United, when they blocked him from doing so. Thatâs what I meant.
Rooney is also a whole different level to all mentioned.
