This is rather sad I think…

I suppose it is a bit of a nest-egg for him. You forget just how insane footballers wages have gone. In the mid 1980s, a typical top-flight footballer would be getting around three times average UK salary. Around £500 per week.

Obviously that went a bit further, and there would be sponsorships and so on, but the real ā€œfootballer wagesā€ only really kicked in after the Premier League started.

Seems a long time ago…

Congratulations to the Firmino family on the birth of Samuel. Finally, a boy!

I know the tendancy online is to talk him down but I think it’s madness that we don’t employ Steven Gerrard in some capacity. Not as manager but he should be at the club.

maybe not ā€˜madness’, but at some point you can see he would be an asset to this club.

i mentioned id like to see him as caretaker manager for the season from around jan, most people were against the idea…i really dont think hes as bad as people are making out…certainly would have commanded the respect

Maybe he only wants the manager’s job?

He has managed in the youth set up, then progressed to managing 3 seperate clubs so doubt he would be happy coming back as a coach/Assistant Manager.

i mean its possible…but if it was ALL he wanted, then hed be managing right now…

caretaker role at LFC for a few months might not be a bad gig…but maybe you are right and he doesnt want to be seen as a band aid solution…

but surely hed be looking for a job if he wanted to be a manager and nothing else…

He was on The Overlap a couple of weeks ago and said he’d do any job for Liverpool.

Can he make espresso? We need someone to fill Mo’s role.

If Alisson leaves in the summer, we may need a new dressing room DJ.

Gerrard might be up for that, ahem…

I remember the headlines when Barnes was given an extension that made him the first 10k a week footballer. Haaland makes that in a week now.

Regarding Nicol though, it’s a weirdly structured article so I’m not sure why he’s selling them. Selling that much does suggest he needs the money, but he has had fairly consistent work over the years since retiring as a player. Not big money jobs but a working salary.

Only if the setlist is Phil Collins on repeat

It also needs to be something he’d want and now.

Because from what I understood, he’s still in the phase of assembling what would be a new coaching staff (something he gives great importance to) for potentially another go or two at coaching somewhere.

Being available for Liverpool is something that I think he said more in general and in the future. I don’t know whether he’d put a lesser role at Liverpool above still trying to make it as a coach right now and in the near future.

I could see that when or if he decides his coaching career is more or less finished.

Different things could still happen of course.

It took all sorts to get us to where we are eh :0)

Pretty tame coming from Suarez TBH. No teeth marks left. I did not know there are retroactive punishments for diving.

The MLS Disciplinary Committee has fined Inter Miami CF forward Luis SuĆ”rez for violating the league’s policy regarding simulation/embellishment in the 72nd minute of Miami’s match against the New England Revolution on April 25.
