It’s taken him a while but Ki-Jana Hoever is finally starting to look good. He’s on loan at Auxerre where he has become the regular starter at right back. He shows up as a really high performer as a creative full back, something that the Scouted podcast are calling ā€œpathfindersā€. The name doesn’t really matter, they’re using it as a short-hand method to describe full backs who play in similar ways to Trent statistically.

A dad and his little boy were heading back to Spain after catching a Liverpool game at Anfield. As they got on their flight, the boy noticed someone he recognized.

ā€œDad, I think that’s Fernando Torres over there!ā€ he whispered with excitement.

The dad, a bit doubtful, said, ā€œFernando Torres on an EasyJet flight? No way.ā€

But when the boy pointed right at Torres’ seat, the dad’s heart skipped a beat—his son was spot on. Trying to keep his cool, he decided to go talk to the star.

He politely asked Torres if he could sign an autograph for his son. Not only did Torres say yes, but he also came over, knelt down, chatted warmly with the boy, and signed a special keepsake. The boy then asked for a photo, but the flight attendants said no on board. Torres smiled and assured them, ā€œOnce we’re at the airport, I’ll make sure we get a photo together. I promise.ā€

Torres was on his way to join the Spanish National Team, so he had to leave quickly when they landed. However, when they arrived, the dad and son ran into a snag: they had lost the bag with their camera. Rushing back to Torres, the dad explained, ā€œWe can’t find our bag. I’m worried we might miss the photo.ā€

Torres simply said, ā€œNo problem, I’ll wait for you outside.ā€

The dad and son searched frantically for over 20 minutes before finally finding their bag. By then, the dad figured Torres would have left with his team. To ease his son’s disappointment, he said, ā€œI’m sorry… a superstar like Torres wouldn’t wait this long for us.ā€

But with a bit of hope, they headed to the spot Torres had promised. And there he was, patiently waiting, keeping the promise he made to a young fan he’d just met.

Torres didn’t just make a fan that day; he created a memory that would last forever. šŸ‘ā¤ļø

I remember back in 2010, Australia played Ireland in Limerick in a friendly. A fairly decent amount of Aussies made the trip over from London. Me and 1 mate had the bright idea that if we got the first flight the morning after the game, factoring in taxi ride to Shannon, check in, security and all that, we could just pull an all nighter then sleep on the plane.

We get to Shannon AIrport, and as we are getting out of the taxi, we notice Lucas Neil and Nicky Carle getting out of the taxi in front of us. We then bumped into them standing in line waiting to board our Ryan Air flight and got talking to Nicky Carle, decent lad but Lucas was his usual standoff-ish arrogant self. Landing in London, Nicky Carle came over to thanks us for travelling to support the lads and offered us a lift back into London as he had a FFA provided taxi.

We had to decline as we still stunk of beer, and probably would have pissed him off with our drunken ramblings before getting back to London - but he was a top lad.

I agree with 3, but surely needs Greame Souness in there

Any Liverpool ā€œMount Rushmoreā€ (not that I agree with tacky American imports) should be Scott, Liddell, Dalglish +1.

I’m too young to have seen Scott or Liddell play, hence Souness being in my list.

So am I, but I’ve studied our history.
