Anyone mentioned Joanna Newsom? Something of an acquired taste, but her voice has noticably changed from the childish squeak of ‘Milk Eyed Meander’ to something much more mellow and classically beautiful. This is one of my favourite songs. This is the best live version I can find.
And unless I’ve missed it in the thread I haven’t yet seen the true original, and for my money, the best woman, Kate Bush. She is mad as a brush, and she doesn’t give a fuck what you think.

New discovery, for me anyway. Her two albums are not new, though. Two albums. Crybaby and K thru 12. She’s not underage, but for some reason I feel a little guilty listening and liking her songs. Listen to her voice and see if you don’t get what I mean.
Somehow I missed your post and suggestion of this amazing singer/songwriter. Man, do I love this song. Haunting.
