Props to @Livvy for at least putting her in a trio, but we shouldn’t go any further into this thread without this lady’s exceptional voice soloing.
I can listen to Mireile Mathieu in the background and dream a bit.

That’s a good shout, @Magnus. Never heard of her, but what a voice! It does make me want to throw Agnetha Fältskog of ABBA into the mix. She sang the original and didn’t do too shabby with it.
She was quite famous. Is regarded as one of the best French singers as far as I know. It is quality.
And yeah, ABBA’s Agnetha and Anni-Frid had good voices, but the truth is that was Bjørn and Benny who created all the music and they should be given far greater credit than the singers. They composed songs that were perfect for their voices. You could have arguably put another singer into ABBA who had a similar voice and it would have been the same.
Right on. I love this one.
And we really can’t let her out
Does ABBA count (the singers are female)
I see, @El_Dorado and @Magnus has mentioned them already.
Getting better with age, too.
Joanne Baez
I need to put her on this list as well, Jennifer Warnes
I think she makes quality pop music. Not as accessible though, which is why she never became a world star. But it is intelligent pop music and her voice (and those damn sexy eyes) is cool and pretty good I think.

(this is not her best one voice-wise, but it is a strong pop song).
That’s a good, good shout, brother. Here’s to you.
Even better:

I am a rocker, so when it comes to pop music, I am a snob, I discard most pop music as totally uninteresting if it is not “special”. This is special, this is good.
Thanks bro. The most amazing thing about this song is that it sounds more like reciting a poem than singing a song.
I chuckled, but you shouldn’t announce to the Devil on public media what soundtrack to play for you in Hell. The Like a Virgin album over and over and over and over…
