Van bommel had that touch with the outside of his right boot and immediately spread the ball out wide right from the centre of midfield and that was really classy
Klopp:
I’ve talked to young van Bommel after the match and asked him if he got that from his mother because surely his father did not have that in him

Konaté pulls out of Zidane’s France squad with minor knee injury and returns to Real Madrid
PARIS (AP) — Ibrahima Konaté has pulled out of France’s squad after hurting his knee in training and returned to Real Madrid.
The center back felt pain in his right knee during a practice session on Wednesday and a scan showed a minor sprain, the national team said.
Konaté was allowed to go back to Spain after what France described as “cordial discussions” between the national team and Madrid, the former club of current France coach Zinedine Zidane.
Some rumours from France that Zidane is about to change some offensive positions; Dembele moving centrally to false #9, Mbappe back on the left side, Olise on the right, Cherki as the most offensive midfielder or #10 (we’ll see what structure in midfield).
A sending off is not enough. This guy should be banned from playing international football.
I’m probably going to get in trouble here, but his name sounds more Arabic than Jewish. There are likely to be multiple layers to this story.
Not really. He was on a yellow card. He lifted the corner flag when he was celebrating and received a second yellow for it. It’s simply the rules of the game.
I meant the symbolism.
He’s an Arab Israeli playing for the national team. That’s not straightforward in itself. Then he’s done this. What was his motivation? Was it a spontaneous act of stupidity, or did it have some other meaning?
Unfortunately, did not get to see the Netherlands-Germany match. Was resigned to watching Norway-Denmark, which was actually a cracking match.
From the stats, looks as though the Dutch controlled large parts of the match, just couldn’t get it in the net until Cody’s banger. Is that how those of you that watched saw it?
Absolutely. The Dutch probably deserved the three points, based on their display, and must have been a little bit frustrated at the end. Xavi has them playing some really good football already, and it will be interesting to see how they develop as a unit.
As could be expected with their reshuffled squad, Klopp’s team on the other hand was still quite disjointed. They had a great start for the first 15-20 minutes (first sightings of gegenpress), then they lost control of the game before they came back strong before the break. Same again during the second half: good periods followed by not-so-good ones. Towards the end, they were completely under the cosh, and the Dutch could easily have scored three goals in the last ten minutes, had they had a genuine goalscorer in their ranks.
Cody played really well throughout and I’m glad for him that he got his reward in the end. MoM for me.
Confirmed.
Cherki looks be to be playing something between a high right sided #8 and #10.
Isak scored in the 20th minutes. Nice through ball to him.
Mbeppe looks done. Scored and immediately felt knee pain when he ran off a bit for goal celebration.
Turkey v France has been a good game
Poor from Ozcan there
Guler looks a player!
Italian football gave me some of the worst nights of my life but I hate to see what happened to their national team.
I might be wrong but it really feels like corruption and Juventus cheating scandal plays a big part in their downfall.
