His deal is until the end of this season, but he could be back in the Bundesliga next season after 15 years, if Schalke go up and he stays. He’s turning 40 soon.

I thought he was better regarded that that. I know he’s not Jurien’s level, but I would have though that if he was leaving holland it would be a bigger move than what EFL clubs pay for loan fees

I thought that’s what he would do, see what’s on his table. But it’s not that I don’t understand the sporting and financial motivations. The only question for a starting place next season could be competition, but maybe he doesn’t mind a battle being among the 3 main CB’s.
