Yeah transfer windows use to be exciting in some form, but all these itks and so called reliable journalists, know fuck all , and sadly they just create bs stories to keep engaged , hughes is crap imo, but at least the club is still not soing any business in public until anything is sealed.

If he does leave as expected and our next window is fronted by someone else, it will be interesting to see if we can keep a better cap on news of what we’re supposedly doing. It’s difficult to know right now how much of this unusual level noise is because that is just what social media is now (and how much of it is completely made up?) vs how much has been our failure to keep our business under wraps as we normally want.

I am getting quite convinced that this twat is already on gardening leave and has been sabotaging us, by focusing on signings for Al Hilal.

That’s a skill that some of us would no doubt applaud - silk purse and sows ear etc.
That was also under a different sporting department, though. That was a Klopp/Schmadtke window, IIRC.
That isn’t to say that Brighton have issues with the current leadership, though.
It was also off the back of conversations between owners, which I think would mean that any future friction would be minimised.

It’s just rage bait now, since Hughes has been lining up transfers for Al Hilal instead.
I saw a great Breaking News tweet the other day saying that PSG had not moved on their valuation of Barcola.

I think it is safe to say that Hughes has been distracted by his new role for quite a while… Whether his interview etc was done on the LFC dollar, who knows eh… but either way, I think we should have taken the reins, away from him after the last transfer window, or as soon as split loyalties were confirmed. Maybe we have, again, who knows eh…
The fact we have a new manager in place, is what I believe, is the only thing that has saved us from buying the wrong players, viz, the ones earmarked by Slot, for Slotball…
I’d rather no-one else landed, rather than get Sarr at this late stage, because I’m sure Ireola will have enough on his plate getting the players we already have, integrated into his tactical and football philosophy… at least until the January window…
The clamour for new faces is based on what we are witnessing in front us on the pitch… I have a strange confidence in Ireola, and that he, and the backroom staff will cope with what we have, while keeping us hunting at top end of PL table until January…
The next 6months will be a real challenge whether late arrivals land or not, either way, it does give us a good chance to study the talent Ireola brings to the club, because he is either our saviour for the future, or our run of the mill mid-table messiah…

I have similar sentiments. I’ve had little confidence that there is any strategy over the last couple of years. In fact, it is almost like a pre-Shankly setup, whereby the board pick the team and expect the team manager to make something of them.
The other thing we don’t know about is how much of a stalling the new investment has caused. That could have accounted for the dithering over Slot’s position at the end of last season.

We’ve known this news for a long time, and I would be incredibly surprised if Hughes was leading negotiations on our behalf. It would be very unusual for a senior person in a contacts based role to not be placed on some kind of gardening leave, if they know they are leaving. At the most he’ll be involved in some kind of transitional arrangement.

I know the anti-holiday has become over commercialised and it’s not as good as it used to be but let’s all join together tomorrow for one last time to celebrate Richard Hughes putting in the bare minimum effort before jetting off into the sunshine to work for his new Saudi pay masters where he can inflict human rights atrocities on someone other than unfancied fringe members of our squad and aging stars.
