I think it’s great that our “rehab patients” are coming along on the tour this time; for one thing, it fosters a sense of community—no one feels left out, and so on. And it probably also has a psychological effect if you have a bit of a distraction while doing it.

That is interesting. They normally get 3 weeks from the date of their last game during these tournament summers. That means the trip would be too early for anyone who got to the last 16, but the guys who went out a round before would be due to report in this week (the Dutch tomorrow and Wirtz and Isak on Wednesday) and catch up with the team, either doing their fitness testing out in the US or report to Kirkby for a day to do it there and then head out. It’s weird that Pearce points out the difference with Cody and Virgil but doesnt explain why.
It’s possible they might give Cody a bit of extra time—maybe because of his personal situation regarding the loss of the baby. But as for Virgil… I have no idea.
Presumably his age and how much he was used this year made them feel he would benefit from an extra week. It’s happened before. It’s just interesting that Pearce has the info that its happening and doesnt elaborate
He’s going to feel like a right tit when he finds out we smuggled in Virgil in the kit bag, like that time Jose got into the chelsea changing rooms despite being banned
Two kids at 21 yrs. Good luck Stef! Surprised he’s going to US considering he’s a new dad. Pleased though because Iraola says he’s slowly getting close to training.
Going to Chicago to see them in a couple weeks. Hopefully we’ll see Isak and Wirtz and Gravenberch back by then.
The smoke from the Canadian wildfires was very strong in my area a few days ago - we had the worst air quality we’ve ever experienced on record - but it’s begun to dissipate, thankfully. Hopefully the skies will be clear for our boys.
Yeah we’re going to the NYC game and Mrs Limie has the lungs of a victorian street urchin who has outgrown the mines. We’re not looking forward to that part of it
