Liverpool FC - Pre-season

Fingers crossed that Robbo’s injury isn’t as bad as we fear. But we have three players who can fill in there, Milner, Tsimikas and Beck who performed well 2nd half.

First half we played some good football. Elliot was brilliant, looking forward to seeing him play this season. Salah looked sharp. Mane was impressive. Jota did ok and took his goal well.

VVD got a good run out and his long range passing was imperious. Matip did well, as did Trent whose own passing we know how good it is!

Milly and Naby did well. Alisson made some good saves and his handling was assured.

Second half was a little bit of a let down, but hey, its a friendly and the opposition were decent.

One more game to come tomorrow night and then we have Norwich.

Salah will score against the Canaries. I say he’ll get a brace.

Almost the exact words that Lijnders used the other day. The party line while some big is cooking behind the scenes??

That’s a portable phone, not a mobile :joy:

The big positive for me today was Elliot’s performance. I thought he was outstanding. The negatives were the chances they made but never finished caused mainly the high line we always play. Our playing the ball out from Allison and defenders looked so uncomfortable. I know it’s the fashion these days but for me we ought to be alternating in sometimes.
A good friendly and a good workout for the lads.

The official has Hendo and Thiago starting tomorrow that’s good news

Wonder what Fabinho and Firmino are up too and whether they two will start.

If we want to get better at playing out though, it needs to be practiced. And this is the perfect arena for it, a highly competitive training session.

There might still be something happening before the end of the transfer window

I’m thinking midfielder at this rate.

If we want to maximise the chances of winning things before Klopp leaves its got to be Saul.

If he wants to lay the foundations for the next ten years its got to be Camavinga.

Imagine Camavinga this year, Bellingham next, Mbappé on a free.

Alisson, Trent, Konate/Gomez, VvD, Robertson, Bellingham, Camavinga, Jones, Elliott, Jota, Mbappé…

29, 23, 23, 31, 29, 19, 19, 21, 19, 25, 23 average age of just under 24.

Then Kelleher 23, Gomez 25, Tsimikas 26, Fabinho 28, Keita 27…

I’ve missed Foden becoming this great player. Looks good for City but rather average for England.

Pisser about Robbo but it’s not like he spends half his life injured, and that’s why we bought Tsimikas. Shit happens innit.

I thought Keita started well but as time wore on became less effective.

they are gash during the season as well… taa and milly jus take shit corners… we need to figure it out… maybe borrow shaq jus for the corners and free kicks

We spent a decade with Gerrard not beating the first man. We’re pretty shit with free kicks also unless there’s a chance to score directly from them.

We score so little from a traditional corner I am happy with a jazzy little short one, straight from
The training ground.

We got a team full of hobbits too so high balls into the box seems a bit pointless

Suspect you were not paying enough attention during the CKs

Trent’s corner was pretty good for Alisson’s goal last season. Maybe we just need to let the big man go up more often!

Hoping Robbo will be back soon. Tsimikas seems a very able deputy and hopefully he’ll take this chance to make an impact.

Just hope we get to see our proper first XI as early as possible. Somehow we haven’t seen our best line up for a long long time now.

I’m not even sure what our best line up is but the one I’m excited to see is Alisson, Trent, Konaté, VvD, Robertson, Hendo, Thiago, Keita, Salah, Jota/Firmino, Mané.
